CLE P.J. Walker - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Arizona Cardinals

It looks like it’s going to be one more week of P.J. Walker behind center for the Browns. Deshaun Watson is on his way back, but it may be one more week of rest for him, though he did return to practice this week. It was another tough outing for Walker last week with two interceptions, but the Browns still almost came away with the win in Seattle. Now they get Arizona at home, which should be an easier matchup, but Walker hasn’t inspired any fantasy confidence and can remain on your bench, and soon the waiver wire.

Update: The Browns are going with Deshaun Watson this week.

CAR QB P.J. Walker - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Atlanta Falcons

P.J. Walker has a great matchup Thursday night against the Falcons, who rank 30th in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. However, can we really trust Walker after he scored negative fantasy points against the Bengals last week? At the risk of recency bias, it’s certainly difficult to trot Walker back out there in fantasy lineups. He’s also a candidate to get benched again, as Baker Mayfield led three scoring drives in relief. Look elsewhere.

CAR QB P.J. Walker - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Cincinnati Bengals

P.J. Walker was pretty good last week, throwing for 317 yards, a touchdown, and a pick in an overtime defeat to the Falcons. He has the Panthers playing competitive ball in his two starts and has tossed three touchdowns over that span. Walker has a tough matchup this week against the Bengals, who just got torched by Cleveland, but still rank seventh in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Walker has some deep-league streaming potential as a QB2 option, but we have him well outside QB1 territory and can be left on waivers in most leagues.

CAR QB P.J. Walker - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

There are rumors of P.J. Walker getting a chance at starting this week. Even if those rumors come to fruition, the short leash and struggling nature of this offense make him hard to trust. Leave him on waivers, regardless.

CAR QB Phillip Walker - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Arizona Cardinals

P.J. Walker has a chance to win the starting the job with Sam Darnold out for the foreseeable future, but it’s hard to bank on that, especially against a tough Arizona pass defense that ranks fourth in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Stash him in deep leagues just in case he blows up, and he definitely projects to have some rushing potential. In most leagues, however, he should remain on waivers.

Update: Walker is expected to start, despite the Panthers signing Cam Newton. Stay away from this situation for now, but stash either Walker or Cam in deep 2QB leagues, in case one emerges.

CAR QB Phillip Walker - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. New England Patriots

P.J. Walker has a chance to start this week if Sam Darnold can’t clear concussion protocol, but he doesn’t offer a lot to be excited about. Walker flashes Konami Code potential, but he’s too raw and this offense has struggled too much to make it worth putting him in fantasy lineups, especially against the Patriots and their seventh-ranked defense in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks. Speculatively stashing him is okay, but he should be nowhere near lineups, even if Darnold is out.
