Scouting report

IND QB Matt Hasselbeck - Week 16, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Miami

Matt Hasselbeck can't eat solid foods, but he still plans to start against Miami this week. The 40-year-old quarterback has been beat up, and it's showing on the stat sheet. In two of his last three games he's failed to reach 200 yards, and he has only two touchdowns in that span.

He gets a great matchup against a struggling Dolphins defense this week. Miami has allowed over 300 yards in each of its last three games, including eight passing touchdowns. Still, with Hasselbeck's injuries and recent poor play, he has to be viewed as a bad option at QB this week.

IND QB Matt Hasselbeck - Week 15, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Houston

In his last two games, Matt Hasselbeck has one touchdown and two interceptions combined. Now, he's dealing with rib injuries that have made it difficult for him to breathe, although he was at practice (limited) Thursday.

He'll face a Houston defense this week that has stepped up its game lately, and could make things difficult for the Indy quarterback. With his injuries and the bad matchup, we view Hasselbeck as one of the poorer quarterback plays this week.

IND QB Matt Hasselbeck - Week 14, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Jacksonville

Matt Hasselbeck had a letdown performance last week against Pittsburgh as he finished with 169 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The Colts struggled to get much going offensively all game long.

Hasselbeck will look to rebound this week in a favorable matchup against Jacksonville. The Jaguars often find themselves in shootouts and it's led to them allowing over 300 yards passing in three of their last four games. When Hasselbeck faced Jacksonville earlier this season he finished with 282 yards, one touchdown and an interception. He should be viewed a lower QB2 play this week.

IND QB Matt Hasselbeck - Week 13, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Matt Hasselbeck - Week 13 vs. Pittsburgh
Matt Hasselbeck had a strong 315-yard, two-touchdown performance last week against Tampa Bay. The 40-year-old QB has found success in Indy and has had multi-touchdown games in his last three starts.

Hasselbeck has a chance of a big game this week, too. He'll face a Steelers defense that's allowed over 300 yards passing in three consecutive games, along with 10 passing touchdowns.

He's a bit of a flier, but Hasselbeck isn't a totally bad option this week.

IND QB Matt Hasselbeck - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Tampa Bay

Matt Hasselbeck has been serviceable in replacement of Andrew Luck. Last week, he had a modest 213 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He's averaging a little over 230 yards per game in his three starts this season.

This week, Hasselbeck gets a decent matchup against the Bucs. Tampa Bay's defense has improved lately, but it still susceptible to big games. Overall, there's not a whole lot to like about Hasselbeck this week. There are plenty of other quarterback options with more promise.

IND QB Matt Hasselbeck - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Atlanta

Matt Hasselbeck is filling in for an injured Andrew Luck as he has twice already this season. Hasselbeck wasn't spectacular in those games, but he was serviceable in terms of fantasy.

This week, he'll face a Falcons secondary that has been surprisingly tough against opposing quarterbacks. In the last three weeks they've held every quarterback to under 200 yards. Also, in four of their last five games quarterbacks were held to just one touchdown. Hasselbeck won't be a strong option this week.

IND QB Matt Hasselbeck - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Houston
Matt Hasselbeck might draw his second start in a row with Andrew Luck dealing with a shoulder injury. Luck appeared to be ready to play, but as the week progressed it seems more and more questionable if he'll play. Adam Schefter reported Thursday morning that the Colts are unsure which quarterback will start.

So, if it turns out to be Hasselbeck, here's his fantasy outlook against Houston:

Hasselbeck did a decent job filling in last week. He threw for 282 yards on 47 pass attempts with one touchdown and no interceptions. He wasn't asked to do a whole lot, and had a lot of drives fall flat against an injured Jaguars secondary.

This week he'll get a much tougher matchup on the road against the Texans. This could get ugly, and we wouldn't recommend Hasselbeck if Luck is unable to play.
