Scouting report

GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Luke Musgrave remains the most consistent part of the Packers' passing attack. He's going to get you somewhere between 3 and 6 targets most weeks and as long as Jordan Love connects, he's going to get one big play down the seam every week. Against a tough matchup against the Steelers, Musgrave connected on two of his four targets for 64 yards. One was a 36-yard play and the other a 28-yard play. He's finding ways to get open and the weeks he's able to score he can put up a big score for a tight end.

The matchup against the Chargers, like the rest of the team, is great. The Chargers are 27th aFPA against tight ends this season. Musgrave has a chance at a TE1 week, but is currently just outside the top-12 at TE14 this week. He's startable if you don't have an elite option like a Travis Kelce or T.J. Hockenson and a flex option if you're absolutely desperate.

GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Luke Musgrave was the one Packers pass catch with a startable fantasy week last week. Musgrave caught 3 of his 4 targets for 51 yards and a touchdown against the Rams. He's been a fairly consistent fantasy producer when given the targets, but Jordan Love has been spreading the ball around lately.

Unfortunately for Musgrave, the Steelers are 4th in aFPA against tight ends this season. A difficult matchup and a low-volume passing attack take Musgrave out of a TE1 conversation. He could be in the flex conversation in a tight-end premium league, though.

GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs Los Angeles Rams
In a positive matchup against the Vikings, Luke Musgrave let us down with 2 catches for 9 yards on 3 targets. The offense is tough to trust at the moment and the big usage we saw on Musgrave early in the season is gone.

While the Rams are 31st in aFPA against tight ends, Musgrave is a middle-of-the-pack TE2 this week by 4for4 rankings and I wouldn't be looking to start Musgrave outside of tight-end premium leagues.

GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Luke Musgrave left the game against the Broncos with an ankle injury. He missed both Wednesday and Thursday practices before getting a limited practice in Friday. He's officially questionable for Sunday's game against Minnesota.

We'll have to wait until Sunday to get the official word on Musgrave, but if he is able to go he's not really on the TE1 scene this week with all 32 teams available. In tight-end premium leagues, he's on the radar.

GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Denver Broncos/strong>

Luke Musgrave tied his season-high with six catches in the game against the Raiders before the bye week. With another week to get healthy, combined with the easiest tight-end matchup in the league, this is a great spot for Musgrave this week.

While Denver ranks 32nd aFPA against tight ends, it isn't just the matchup that is ideal for Musgrave. Coming off a seven-target game, he's a big part of the Green Bay offense. We'll have to see how the return of Aaron Jones in the short passing game impacts Musgrave, but for now, he's a TE1 this week and should be started in all formats.

GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Detroit Lions

Luke Musgrave continues to run the majority of the routes for the Packers at tight end and has a decent enough target share to keep him fantasy-relevant. We'll have to see how targets shake out with Christian Watson and Aaron Jones returning, but this is a great matchup against the Lions who rank 29th against tight ends in aFPA.

Musgrave is a borderline TE1 this week, but is certainly a start this week. The combination of a great matchup and lack of competition makes Musgrave a confident start as one of the few tight ends outside of the elite tight ends.

GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. New Orleans Saints

Luke Musgrave is top 10 in the NFL amongst tight ends in route participation, ADOT, and air yards so it feels like there should be a breakout eventually here for the rookie tight end. While he's been running a lot of routes, his 15% targets per routes run is a bit disappointing.

Musgrave is on the TE1 bubble this week in leagues that aren't TE premium and the combination of tough matchup and potentially more target competition this week leads me to want to leave him on the bench if I have a comparable option.
