Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness, out) took limited practice reps all week and is out for Week 5. Luke Falk is going to start in his place. Darnold is shooting for Week 6 now, but his spleen isn't cooperating.
Not quite the all-clear they were hoping for, Rapoport went on to say. Darnold has not lifted or ran or thrown since contracting mono, so he’ll ramp up this week. The hope is he can play in Week 5 in what is a nice matchup against the Eagles, but if he's not cleared, it's Falk who gets the start again.
Falk will get the start Sunday against the Patriots. Faulk will be the third different QB to start in three games this season. Some good news, according to the story, is Darnold returned to the Jets' facility and is feeling much better. Best case for Darnold is Week 5 against the Eagles, the story said.
