Scouting report

ARI WR Larry Fitzgerald - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Los Angeles Rams

Larry Fitzgerald had a touchdown last week in a surprise victory over the Seahawks, but he was held to just 48 yards on four receptions. Fitzgerald has a pretty high floor it seems as he’s had at least three catches and at least 40 yards in four of his last six games, but if you need more than seven PPR points, it’s hard to bank on him. He has just four touchdowns on the season and will face a tough Rams defense to finish off the season. If you have an option with better upside, you should look elsewhere, but he’s not a terrible WR3 option if you just need a few guaranteed points.

ARI WR Larry Fitzgerald - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Seattle Seahawks

Larry Fitzgerald was held to three catches and 42 yards last week against the Browns. He started the season with a pair of 100-yard games, but he hasn’t had one since and has only three touchdowns all year. Fitzgerald may be in his final season and this is the first time he’s really looked like a player at the end of his career. Fantasy owners should avoid him if possible for the rest of the season, outside of expecting five or so points in full PPR formats.

ARI WR Larry Fitzgerald - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Cleveland Browns

Larry Fitzgerald had only 20 yards on three catches last week against a tough Steelers defense. He’ll face a slightly easier Browns defense this week, but his production has been pretty underwhelming throughout much of the season. He’s sure to get a reasonable amount of targets, giving him some security in larger leagues, but he hasn’t had over 100 yards since Week 2 and has scored only three touchdowns all year. Sit him if you can.

ARI WR Larry Fitzgerald - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Larry Fitzgerald caught six balls last week for 56 yards. While his numbers have been far from elite this season, he does have double-digit PPR points in his last three games and is averaging 6.7 targets over that span. The Cardinals look like they’ll be playing from behind a lot to close out the season, giving Fitzgerald WR3 potential in PPR formats. He only has three touchdowns this season though, and only one since Week 4, so he has little value in standard leagues. This week, he faces the 11th-ranked defense in aFPA to opposing wide receivers, so he’s more of a desperation starter in most formats.

ARI WR Larry Fitzgerald - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Los Angeles Rams

Larry Fitzgerald caught all five balls thrown his way for 37 yards and a touchdown against the 49ers before the bye last week. After a few terrible weeks, he’s had double-digit PPR points in each of his past two games and he still leads the team with 76 targets – although Christian Kirk is getting more per game.

This week, Fitzgerald faces a Rams defense that ranks 20th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this year and was just torched by the Ravens for five touchdown passes, including four to the wide receiver position. He’s risky due to his lack of production throughout much of the season, but he has some low-end WR3 upside in what should be a pretty good matchup.

ARI WR Larry Fitzgerald - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at San Francisco 49ers

Larry Fitzgerald had eight catches for 71 yards in a favorable matchup last week against the Buccaneers. It was his first double-digit PPR game since October 13th against the Falcons and it was good to see him eclipse four targets after three terrible games. Fitzgerald seems to be an afterthought behind Christian Kirk since Kirk returned from injury, making it hard to trust him in any given week. In a tough matchup against the 49ers this week, fantasy owners should look elsewhere if possible. He’s worth considering as depth on most rosters, and is a reasonable option in good matchups, but he can’t be counted on every game and this week he should be on the bench.

ARI WR Larry Fitzgerald - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Larry Fitzgerald has been quiet over his last three games, including only 38 yards on four receptions against the 49ers last week. The 49ers are elite defensively, however, and the Saints did an excellent job against the entire Cardinals’ offense in Week 8. Fitzgerald should be a better option when the matchups are more favorable.

This week, Fitzgerald has a great matchup against the Buccaneers. No team ranks lower in aFPA to opposing wide receivers than Tampa Bay, and the Seahawks duo of Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf just destroyed them last week. Expect a rebound effort from the veteran, giving him low-end WR3 potential.
