DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 – Kenny Golladay vs. Chicago Bears
Even though he was productive with anyone under center last season, Kenny Golladay is happy to have Matthew Stafford back. In ’19 Detroit’s top WR posted his second-straight 1,000-yard season, averaging over 18 yards per grab with 11 scores. In the two contests versus Chicago last season, he totaled 215 yards and two TDs. Of course you’re starting him in the season opener. He is day-to-day with a hamstring injury, so be sure to keep tabs on it Golladay.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
What an outstanding third pro season Kenny Golladay had in ’19. On 119 targets, he snagged 65 passes for nearly 1,200 yards, averaging 18.3 yards per catch, and scored 11 times. And, he did all that without Matthew Stafford at QB for half of the season, seeing his number of targets decreased in contests without the veteran under center. Golladay has eclipsed 1,000 yards in two straight years and registered five 100-yard games in ’19. He is only 26 and has missed just one game the past two seasons.

Fantasy Downside
After the big year you have to wonder if the numbers will drop off in ’20, even if Stafford can remain healthy throughout. In his first two seasons he was targeted 167 times, which resulted in only eight TDs. Despite being the Lions top WR the past two seasons, he’s totaled a modest 135 receptions and managed to snag more than four passes in a contest just six times last season.

Bottom Line
Heading into the season, on paper Golladay is a top-10 fantasy WR. He has great size and speed, making him a nightmare matchup for DBs. As is the case with the Lions, if Stafford can remain upright for the whole season, the team and Galloway can post strong offensive numbers. While Galloway will continue to be the featured WR for Detroit, he’s going to need to see more targets this season in order to finish in the top 10 in PPR leagues.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Green Bay Packers
Although David Blough passed for just 117 yards in the loss to the Broncos last Sunday, Kenny Golladay finished with six receptions for 66 yards and his 11th TD of the year. He’s found the end zone in three of the past four outings and registered 121 yards in the Monday night defeat at Green Bay in October. Even with the rookie QB, Golladay remains a top WR option.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Denver Broncos
After Detroit fell behind big versus Tampa Bay last week David Blough threw 43 passes for 260 yards. However, Kenny Golladay finished with just three receptions for 44 yards, his lowest totals since mid-November. Golladay has been over the century mark five times this season and still leads the league with 10 receiving TDs. Even though Denver’s pass defense has been decent this season, expect a better performance from Golladay on Sunday.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With David Blough under center, Detroit’s offense had all kinds of trouble against the Vikings last week. Kenny Golladay ended up with six catches for 58 yards and a late TD, his league-leading 10th receiving score. Blough will remain at the helm but the aerial attack has a much better opponent at home versus the league’s second-worst pass defense. Golladay continues to be a must-start WR, especially now that the Lions are without Marvin Jones.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Minnesota Vikings
With David Blough making his NFL debut at QB on Thanksgiving Kenny Golladay torched the Bears defense for a season-high 158 yards and a TD on four receptions. It was his fifth game over the century mark and the ninth time he’d found the end zone in ’19. Despite a big passing performance from Matthew Stafford earlier this season versus the Vikings Golladay was limited to just a 21-yard catch. Blough will remain under center for Detroit on Sunday, so Golladay makes for a WR2 play.

DET WR Kenny Golladay - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Chicago Bears
With Jeff Driskel throwing for just over 200 yards last Sunday in Washington, Kenny Golladay snagged four passes for a team-high 61 yards. In the three contests with Driskel under center Golladay’s productivity has tapered off, as he’s averaging just 51 yards with one TD during the span. In Week 10 at Chicago, he finished with 57 yards and that TD. The Bears have a stout defense but there’s no way Golladay is being left on your bench, even if Jeff Blough is the team's quarterback.
