During his press conference Saturday, Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said WR Keke Coutee “will not be back soon” as he deals with an ankle injury suffered in the first half of the Texans’ preseason opener against the Packers Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: 

The news continues to be negative surrounding Coutee, who was in line for a breakout season with QB DeShaun Watson and WR DeAndre Hopkins and not having a set timetable for his return makes his fantasy stock all the more cloudy. Very unfortunate circumstances for Coutee. In the meantime, Will Fuller will likely see more targets in Coutee’s absence.

Keke Coutee being helped up and is limping off the field with help of trainers, is hobbling with right leg injury

Fantasy Impact: 

Coutee has been a rising fantasy WR this offseason and was being drafted in the late 9th to early-10th round as a WR3. He dealt with hamstring issues last season and it would be rough if this is a substantial injury.

The Texans are expected to release WR Demaryius Thomas today per source. Thomas tore his left Achilles in Week 16. It’s too early for a time table, but he’s returned from the injury quickly in the past.

This was not unexpected. The Texans will move forward with a potent trio of DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller and Keke Coutee.

Texans WR Keke Coutee (hamstring, questionable) took full practice reps again Thursday. Coutee was limited all of last week before ultimately sitting out his fifth game, so a week of full practices looks like a significant upgrade. At this point, we think he’ll play.
