Scouting report

DEN RB Juwan Thompson - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 – Juwan Thompson vs. Buffalo Bills
As C.J. Anderson was running through the Chiefs defense for 168 yards last week in Kansas City, Juwan Anderson spelled him for 10 carries and 39 yards. Even with Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman out at least another game, Anderson will remain the featured back, limiting Thompson’s rush attempts. He should not be started, especially versus a Buffalo defense that is No. 7 against the run.

DEN RB Juwan Thompson - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 – Juwan Thompson vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Backing up C.J. Anderson who ran for 167 yards, Juwan Thompson finished with five rushes for 33 yards in the win over the Dolphins last week. With Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman still out, Anderson will again carry the load, with Juwan getting a handful of touches. The Chiefs held Denver to 88 yards on the ground in the first meeting in Week 2, but Thompson doesn't make for a good fantasy start in the rematch anyway due to his lack of playing time.

DEN RB Juwan Thompson - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Juwan Thompson vs. Miami Dolphins
Even with Montee Ball leaving last week’s game in St. Louis early on with an injury, Juwan Thompson did not receive a rushing attempt. He did have a five-yard reception, but C.J. Anderson had all nine of Denver’s carries and also caught eight passes. With top RBs Ball and Ronnie Hillman out, Thompson will likely be used to spell Anderson on a few series, but he is not worth a fantasy start, especially against a good Miami D.

DEN RB Juwan Thompson - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 – Juwan Thompson vs. St. Louis Rams
In Oakland last week it was C.J. Anderson’s turn to shine out of the Broncos RBs, as he totaled 163 yards and a TD. Juwan Thompson saw limited action, carrying the rock only four times for eight yards. Montee Ball is expected back on Sunday, but now Ronnie Hillman will be out at least a couple weeks. The Denver RB situation is still uncertain, however, so look for the coaching staff to go with the hot player. Thompson does not make for a good fantasy start versus the Rams.

DEN RB Juwan Thompson - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 – Juwan Thompson vs. Oakland Raiders
After Denver fell behind big at halftime last week in New England, the running game was abandoned. While Ronnie Hillman received 10 carries, Juwan Thompson carried the rock only twice for six yards and caught a six-yard pass. Montee Ball will be eased back this week, but Hillman will remain the starter and receive the bulk of the action. The Raiders allow 132 yards per game on the ground, but Thompson should only be started if you’re out of other RB options.

DEN RB Juwan Thompson - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 – Juwan Thompson vs. New England Patriots
While Ronnie Hillman was getting most of the rushing attempts in the win over San Diego last Thursday, Juwan Thompson received two goal line carries from the FB position, resulting in two TDs. On the night, the rookie ran for 24 yards on seven carries and now has three career scores. Despite the two-TD performance, Hillman will continue to receive most of the playing time, meaning you’re better off looking elsewhere for a starting RB.

DEN RB Juwan Thompson - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Juwan Thompson vs. San Diego Chargers
With Ronnie Hillman running well the last two games, Juwan Thompson has mainly been used to give the starter a breather and for some short-yardage carries. Last Sunday night in the win over the 49ers Juwan ran for 30 yards on six carries. However, Thompson isn’t getting enough playing time right now to warrant a fantasy start.
