Scouting report

IND WR Josh Downs - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New Orleans Saints

Josh Downs had the best game of his young career last week against the Browns, catching five of his six targets for 125 yards and a touchdown. It was his first game with over 100 yards and his second straight game with a touchdown. He seems to be developing a great rapport with Gardner Minshew.

This week, Downs has a tough matchup against a New Orleans defense that ranks 12th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. He’s too risky to count on in most leagues, especially in a tough matchup, but he should definitely be rostered in all formats given the targets he’s getting. He has at least six targets in three straight games and had 12 targets against Baltimore in Week 3 - a Minshew start. This week, consider him a low-end WR3 option, however.

IND WR Josh Downs - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Jacksonville Jaguars

Josh Downs caught all six of his targets for 97 yards last week against the Titans. He seems to have a legit role in this offense and already has a nice rapport with both quarterbacks. Gardner Minshew will be starting for at least the next few games, and he found Downs eight times in his last full game - Baltimore in Week 3 - as the starter.

This week, Downs has a nice matchup against a Jacksonville defense that ranks 23rd in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Downs is risky because the Colts probably don’t throw the ball enough to provide legit fantasy production to multiple pass-catchers, but he has some upside in a game that could be higher scoring than Indianapolis prefers. We have him ranked outside WR3 territory, but he has upside as a flier in deep leagues.
