Scouting report

LV WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. New York Giants

Jakobi Meyers caught his only target last week, gaining 19 yards in a dismal performance by the Raiders’ offense as a hole. That game was the final straw for Josh McDaniels, who was fired along with the general manager and offensive coordinator. Now, a quarterback change and an interim coach will be in charge in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future.

Meyers will look to rebound this week against a Giants defense that ranks 11th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. With injuries and bye weeks, we still have Meyers ranked as a fringe-WR2 option this week, hoping he can get back to the targets we saw in previous weeks from him. Be wary.

LV WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Detroit Lions

Jakobi Meyers led the team with 13 targets last week, catching seven of them for 50 yards and his third touchdown in as many games. He now has five touchdowns in six games this season and is clearly a favorite target of the trio of Las Vegas quarterbacks. Meyers is averaging 9.3 targets per game and seems like he’s entering his prime at age 26.

This week, Meyers has a nice matchup against a Detroit defense that ranks 25th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. The Raiders are likely going to be playing from behind against an angry Lions team coming off an embarrassing loss to the Ravens, so expect another slew of targets to head Meyers’ way. We have him ranked as a low-end WR2 option this week.

LV WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Chicago Bears

Jakobi Meyers had another nice game against the Patriots last week, catching five of seven targets for 61 yards and his fourth touchdown of the season. Meyers has double-digit targets in three of his five games this year.

This week, Meyers faces a Chicago defense that ranks 15th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Meyers’ steady targets with Jimmy Garoppolo may or may not translate well if Brian Hoyer is under center, as expected, but in a game where I think the Raiders should be able to score some points, Meyers is still worth considering as a quality WR3 or flex option.

LV WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. New England Patriots

Jakobi Meyers had a nice game against the Packers on Monday night, catching seven of the 10 balls thrown his way for 75 yards and a touchdown, his third of the season. Meyers has developed a nice rapport with Jimmy Garoppolo and has double-digit targets in three out of the four games he’s been active for.

This week, Meyers has a tough matchup against a New England defense that ranks 11th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Expect a tough game against his former team. We have Meyers ranked as a WR3 or flex option in what could be a very low-scoring affair.

LV WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Green Bay Packers

Jakobi Meyers had a quiet game against the Chargers last week. Despite a great matchup, he was held to just 33 yards on a pair of receptions. Meyers has two really solid fantasy days, one bad day, and an injury in his first four games as a Raider, so fantasy managers are still trying to see what’s in store for the veteran.

This week, Meyers faces a Green Bay defense that ranks 18th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. He also should benefit from Jimmy Garoppolo’s expected return from concussion protocol. We have him ranked as a solid WR3 or flex option with upside in a pretty good matchup.

LV WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Los Angeles Chargers

Jakobi Meyers missed Week 2 with a concussion, but he returned last week to catch seven of his 12 targets for 85 yards. He didn’t find the end zone this time after scoring twice in Week 1, but it’s good to see him getting double-digit targets in both of his starts this year.

Meyers has a great matchup this week against the Chargers. Only the Seahawks rank lower in aFPA to opposing wide receivers, as Los Angeles has been a sieve defensively so far this year. Meyers is still a part of the Las Vegas offense and is still number two in the passing game behind Davante Adams, so tread carefully. Still, there’s enough upside to warrant WR3 or Flex consideration this week in most leagues.

LV WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Jakobi Meyers missed last week with a head injury suffered in Week 1, and his status for this week is in question. If he starts, he has some upside, despite a tough matchup against the Steelers, who demolished the Browns last week. Meyers scored a pair of touchdowns in Week 1 against the Broncos and received 10 targets, despite playing opposite Davante Adams. Meyers is risky, but he’s worth considering as a low-end WR3 option with upside. Just be sure to check the late injury report for his status, and since he’s playing in a night game, have a backup plan available.
