Scouting report

LV WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Denver Broncos

Jakobi Meyers caught a career-high six touchdowns last season with the Patriots and then signed with the Raiders to replace Mack Hollins as the outside receiver opposite Davante Adams. Hollins had 94 targets in that role in 2022, so Meyers should be able to find some production. Still, it’s hard to get too excited about the second receiver on a team with quarterback questions. Adams is still going to get a ton of targets and Meyers will struggle to be consistent enough to warrant weekly starts in most fantasy leagues. Managers should consider him a fringe-WR3 option in very deep leagues at best.

LV WR Jakobi Meyers - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Jakobi Meyers signed with the Raiders this offseason after four modest seasons in New England. He is coming off a career-high six touchdowns last year, but he missed three games and was held to 804 yards on 67 receptions. Meyers has talent and is best suited for the WR2 role on a team. In that, he’s a perfect fit in this offense opposite Davante Adams.

Fantasy Downside
Mack Hollins was the second-best fantasy receiver in Las Vegas in 2022, and he was all the way down at WR44 in total half-PPR fantasy points. While you could argue Meyers has more talent than Hollins, it seems unlikely that this offense with a hobbled Jimmy Garoppolo and veteran journeyman Brian Hoyer behind center can sustain more than one fantasy receiver.

2023 Bottom Line
Meyers isn’t a particularly good value going in the ninth round of 12-team leagues right now. You can get players in better offenses and/or with higher upside a few rounds later. If Meyers slides to the end of your draft, he’s functional as a WR5 on your roster, but you don’t want to count on him. There are too many question marks on this offense to bank on any pass-catcher outside of Adams.

NE WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Miami Dolphins

Jakobi Meyers was a key part of New England almost coming back against Cincinnati last week, catching 6 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. Kendrick Bourne has started seeing more action of late, but Meyers is still arguably the main option for Mac Jones, giving him flex consideration for the finals.

NE WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Jakobi Meyers returned from a concussion last week and caught two passes on six targets for 47 yards. Of course, the Patriots passing offense didn't do too much, though they didn't need to with the effectiveness of Rhamondre Stevenson. A tough matchup awaits Meyers on Christmas Eve facing the Bengals' defense and still having a limited quarterback and play-caller. Meyers is still the favorite target of Jones, however, and that gives Meyers some fantasy value, but nothing more than a flex play.

NE WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Arizona Cardinals

Jakobi Meyers left last week's game against the Bills with a concussion and is still in the concussion protocol as of Thursday night. Meyers does have an extra day to work with, as the Patriots play on Monday in Arizona. Keep a close eye on Patriots practice this weekend. He remains Mac Jones' top option, but he does have a tough matchup. For as messy as the Cardinals have been, they have been pretty good against opposing wide receivers with a good secondary.

NE WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Buffalo Bills

Jakobi Meyers dinged up his shoulder against the Vikings last week but still managed 62 yards on three catches. He remains the clear-cut No. 1 option for Mac Jones and his shoulder does look to be better and he looks to be good to go for Thursday against the Bills. It's certainly a tough matchup with the Bills getting healthier in the secondary as Tre'Davious White returned last week against the Lions. But as Mac Jones' favorite target, Meyers is at least still worthy of a WR3 spot in your lineups this week.

NE WR Jakobi Meyers - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Minnesota Vikings

The Jets defense stifled the Patriots offense in Week 11, but Jakobi Meyers still cracked 50 yards for the sixth time this season. He is easily the favorite receiver for Mac Jones and has been for a while. That alone makes him a solid fantasy option, sitting in the WR3/flex territory on a short week against the Vikings.
