Scouting report

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Miami Dolphins

Maybe 2022 really was an outlier for Hunter Henry. He got off to a strong start in 2023 with six targets, five catches and a touchdown. We’ve seen Henry be a key factor in the Patriots offense before and the Patriots did say they wanted to get him back in the mix. So far, so good. And while it’s early, Miami is a good matchup for Henry, who should continue to be a safety valve for Mac Jones as he continues to build back his confidence. All of a sudden, Henry is a worthy fantasy option again.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Hunter Henry in 2022 was a far cry from what he was in 2021. He’ll look for a fresh start in 2023 but now instead of Jonnu Smith next to him, it’s Mike Gesicki. The two will cancel each other out sometimes and the passing offense still isn’t the strongest as New England wants to focus on the run game. After last season, Henry is best served on the bench to start this season.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Miami Dolphins

A knee injury forced Hunter Henry out of Week 16 very early. Henry looks like he'll be able to play Sunday against Miami and could be the only top tight end for the Patriots as Jonnu Smith is dealing with a concussion. That could mean more targets for Henry, but probably not enough to make him anything more than a mid-range TE2 for the fantasy finals.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

It's been a far cry from last season for Hunter Henry. Perhaps the loss of Josh McDaniels had to do with that, but whatever the reason, Henry just hasn't been a fantasy-relevant tight end this season and that will continue this week in a tough matchup against the Bengals. In fact, using our matchup ratings, the Bengals are the No. 1 toughest matchup for tight ends at the moment. Safe to say, Henry is not a recommended play this week.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Las Vegas Raiders

Hunter Henry had a season-high 70 yards last week against the Cardinals and just his third game with at least 10 fantasy points. The downside is he only saw three targets. The good news is Jonnu Smith hasn't been eating into his work because Smith is hardly seeing any of his own. In any event, Henry remains a TE2 this week.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Arizona Cardinals

Hunter Henry saw five targets last week against the Bills but only had 13 yards on two catches. The good news is he's clearly become the TE1 in New England. He out-snapped Jonnu Smith last week 47-17. Two other notes are working in Henry's favor this week: 1) Jakobi Meyers will be limited at best, if he even plays, bumping Henry up the totem pole in the passing game, and 2) Arizona allows the most fantasy points per game to tight ends. Henry is a high-end TE2 with some upside.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Buffalo Bills

Hunter Henry saw his most targets (5) and scored a touchdown for the first time since Week 6. However, Henry only has two double-digit fantasy days all season, a far cry from last season. Jonnu Smith continues to eat at Henry's fantasy potential, making both risky starts again and, truly, not recommended starts at all.
