NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Dallas Cowboys
Garrett Wilson had one of the best touchdown receptions you will ever see, but it was overshadowed by the injury to QB Aaron Rodgers. Expect this to affect Wilson more than anyone and you saw that in his overall numbers which was five catches for 34 yards.

Wilson will still be the No. 1 target for QB Zach Wilson, but the production will not be as much as anticipated coming into the season. This week, he faces the Cowboys whose defense is one of the best in the NFL.

Start Wilson as a low-end WR2 for Week 2. Any chance of him jumping into WR1 territory probably went out the window for the season, but he still is capable of having big games, just not this week.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Buffalo Bills
There is little doubt that Garrett Wilson is the premier Jets wide receiver. He should be better with the upgrade at quarterback and could even end up being in that upper tier of wide receivers by the end of the season. The touchdown receptions should definitely jump from the four he had in 2022.

Wilson faces a tough Bills defense. He had 14 receptions in the two games against them last season for a combined 170 yards. So expect at least similar numbers on Monday night.

Start Wilson as a low-end WR1 for Week 1. The Bills are likely to focus on him and make one of the other receivers beat them so that could keep Wilson from having a huge night, but he still will be the main target.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
The stock for Garrett Wilson and every other Jets skill player went up as soon as Aaron Rodgers was traded to New York. Wilson eased his way into the No. 1 role last season and proved to be one of the best rookie wide receivers in the league. Now with the quarterback position upgraded, Wilson can build on those rookie numbers that saw him catch 83 passes for 1,103 yards.

Fantasy Downside
The league knows about Wilson now so there will be more attention on him. The Jets also brought in four veteran receivers that will be in Rodgers' progressions including two former Packers. Wilson has the talent but experienced receivers around him could cut into his production.

2023 Bottom Line
Wilson is clearly the No. 1 receiver for the Jets, but we don't expect him to have a big jump in his numbers. They should be similar which makes him a viable low-end WR1 for 2023. He is ranked the No. 11 receiver this preseason and is going in the second round. If you go running back in the first round, he can be your No. 1 receiver as a second-round pick.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Seattle Seahawks
Garrett Wilson was targeted nine times for the second straight week and it produced four receptions for the second straight week. The issue was he only had 30 receiving yards with QB Zach Wilson at the helm. Good news is Mike White is back at quarterback this week.

Wilson faces the Seahawks who are ranked third in aFPA to wide receivers. Seattle has been very good against the pass and especially good at home.

Start Wilson as a high-end WR2 for Week 17. The return of White will help Wilson but the matchup is not a favorable one on the road for the Jets.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
With Zach Wilson back at quarterback, Garrett Wilson had mixed results last Sunday. He was targeted nine times but for only four catches. He did have an impressive 98 yards so that's a good sign for the Jets' No. 1 receiver.

Wilson faces the Jaguars who are ranked 31st in aFPA to wide receivers. The Jets had over 300 yards passing last Sunday so there is hope that they can repeat that performance against another bad pass defense.

Start Wilson as a solid WR2 for Week 16 against the Jags. Wilson is the No. 1 target no matter who the quarterback is so we expect good numbers once again.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Detroit Lions
Five out of the last six games, Garrett Wilson has put up WR1 numbers. Last week, he caught six passes for 78 yards and that has become more of the floor for him at this point. He is a legit target and defenses know it and have started to pay attention to him.

Wilson faces the Lions who are ranked 29th in aFPA to wide receivers. Detroit's pass defense is one of the worst and even worse on the road. Wilson is poised for a big game.

We downgrade Wilson to a solid WR2 for Week 15. Despite the favorable matchup, Zach Wilson's return to the starting lineup with Mike White injured spells bad news for all the Jets' pass catchers. The talent and recent production still warrants starting, but be cautious with expectations with Wilson back under center.

NYJ WR Garrett Wilson - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Buffalo Bills
Garrett Wilson had his best game of the season last week with season-highs for everything - 15 targets, 8 receptions and 163 receiving yards. It was his third 100+ receiving yard performance of the season, but it was the first game since Week 3 with double-digit targets.

Wilson faces the Bills who are ranked 29th in aFPA to wide receivers. In the first meeting with Buffalo, Wilson had eight receptions for 92 yards.

This is a good matchup for the Jets receivers, so start Wilson as a low-end WR1 for Week 14. Should be another big game for him.
