Scouting report

BUF WR Gabe Davis - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Las Vegas Raiders
The expectations this season for Gabe Davis weren't as high and that is a good thing because you didn't get much from him in the opener. Davis was limited to four targets which produced two receptions for 32 yards. This was one reason his fantasy stock was lower in the preseason, because there were too many games like Week 1.

There is always a chance for Davis to have a big week and with the Raiders coming to town, those odds go up. However, we really don't trust him because he still has had trouble being consistent.

Keep Davis on the bench for Week 2. He is depth only despite a favorable matchup and the fact that the Bills offense should bounce back.

BUF WR Gabe Davis - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at New York Jets
Fantasy managers are hoping to get more out of Gabe Davis this year as he begins his second season as the No. 2 receiver for Buffalo. Last year, he only was targeted double digits twice and never really put up numbers managers expected, considering where he was drafted.

Davis faces the Jets to start the season. He had a combined five receptions for 69 yards and zero touchdowns in the two meetings last season. He should get opportunities and that should be enough to start him Week 1 as a WR3 or flex despite the tough matchup. Expect 3-5 receptions and 50 receiving yards.

BUF WR Gabe Davis - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Gabe Davis has a solid hold as the No. 2 receiver for one of the best offenses in the NFL. His targets were up in 2022 and he had games where he helped you win your week. Expectations were high going into last season, but too many people cast Davis in a role he had never done.

Fantasy Downside
Many people drafted him as a WR2 last season, but he rarely reached that level. He only caught 48 passes for 836 yards and seven touchdowns. The numbers were good for him, but not for what was expected.

2023 Bottom Line
Maybe Davis will be better this year, but draft him as a low-end WR3. Do not expect No. 2 receiver numbers. His ADP has him going between the eighth and 10th round, and if you can get him as your fourth receiver, that would make him more valuable and he might even surprise everyone.

BUF WR Gabe Davis - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Cincinnati Bengals
Gabe Davis continues to be average although he scored his seventh touchdown of the season. He has averaged only three catches per game over the past month and his yardage-high over that time period was 56.

Davis faces the Bengals who are ranked 30th in aFPA to wide receivers. It could be a big night for the offenses this Monday, but we still don't see big numbers from Davis.

Davis still has some fantasy value for Week 17 but only as a low-end WR3 or Flex. His owners have been waiting to that breakout game, but it just hasn't happened since Week 5 for him.

BUF WR Gabe Davis - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Chicago Bears
Gabe Davis has been consistent with his targets as last Saturday he received six. It produced four receptions for 56 yards. He remains a big part of the Bills passing game but those numbers seem to be the ceiling for him this season. Just not a lot of big games despite his role as the No. 2 receiver for a high-powered passing game.

Davis faces the Bears who are ranked 19th in aFPA to wide receivers. We expect similar numbers to last week so start Davis as a WR3 or Flex for Week 16. Don't expect much but enough to be a factor.

BUF WR Gabe Davis - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Miami Dolphins
Another game for Gabe Davis where he struggled to produce fantasy numbers. He ended up with only three receptions for 31 yards. In his last seven games, he has had less than 40 receiving yards. Not what we expected from the No. 2 receiver in a very proficient passing game.

Davis faces the Dolphins who are ranked 12th in aFPA to wide receivers. The Bills played the Miami Dolphins in South Florida in September and he had three receptions for 37 yards.

If you have better options, keep Davis on the bench. He doesn't even reach the WR3 or Flex ranking for Week 15.

BUF WR Gabe Davis - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. New York Jets
Gabe Davis continues to befuddle fantasy managers with games like last week. He had only two receptions for 15 yards which doesn't make much sense as the No. 2 receiver in a high-powered offense like Buffalo.

Davis faces the Jets who have the No. 1 ranking in aFPA to wide receivers. He had two receptions for 31 yards in the first meeting with New York this season. Davis just hasn't had enough big games this season to justify his preseason hype. Start him as a WR3 or Flex for Week 14.
