TEN RB Dontrell Hilliard - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Indianapolis Colts
Dontrell Hilliard continues to work behind Derrick Henry as a pass-catching specialist. Hilliard typically plays somewhere between 20 and 30 percent of the offensive snaps but he gets a minimal amount of carries behind Henry and has to rely on limited passing game usage in a run-first offense to produce. Even with an unimposing matchup on deck against the Colts, Hilliard does not get enough touches to warrant fantasy consideration.

TEN RB Dontrell Hilliard - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Washington Commanders
Dontrell Hilliard's primary role is as a pass catching back, but the Titans are giving an increasing number of passing opportunities to lead man Derrick Henry as the season has progressed. Hilliard was out-targeted by Henry in Week 4 and does not receive enough standalone work to be considered in fantasy. Keep Hilliard on the bench or waivers unless something happens to Henry.

TEN RB Dontrell Hilliard - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Miami Dolphins
Dontrell Hilliard surprisingly got the honorary "start" for the Titans last week in that he handled the first RB touches of the game, but he only totaled five carries for 20 yards and two receptions that combined to lose six yards after ceding a goal-line touchdown to projected starter D'Onta Foreman, who received nine carries of his own. It's Foreman who appears to have a firm grip on goal-line work, but the other roles in the Tennessee backfield are a bit of a guessing game with Hilliard and Jeremy McNichols mixing in enough to raise questions about his lead-back status. Even if Hilliard "starts" this week, he is only guaranteed a handful of touches splitting work with two other backs. The fact that he is not in line for short-yardage work takes him off the fantasy radar completely.

TEN RB Dontrell Hilliard - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. San Francisco 49ers
Dontrell Hilliard is currently in a timeshare with Jeremy McNichols for third-down duties behind early-down bruiser D'Onta Foreman. That role only led to nine carries and four receptions for Hilliard, who managed to produce 59 total yards. The Titans love to run the ball, but Hilliard's current usage will not be viable in fantasy leagues when he is only guaranteed to see a handful of touches any given week. Keep Hilliard on your bench in case something happens to Foreman, but he is not worthy of starting in your flex spot this week against the 49ers.

TEN RB Dontrell Hilliard - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
D'Onta Foreman and Dontrell Hilliard both cleared 100 yards rushing in Week 12, with Foreman logging 19 carries to Hilliard's 20. It's fair to expect a similar split of touches in Week 14, and an extremely soft matchup against Jacksonville means there could be opportunity for both backs to produce once again. The split workload caps the ceiling of both players, but the Titans' dedication to the run game and the accommodating matchup make both Foreman and Hilliard workable flex plays heading into Week 14.

TEN RB Dontrell Hilliard - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New England Patriots
Dontrell Hilliard saw seven carries in Week 11, but made his real mark in the passing game where he caught eight balls on 10 targets. Hilliard's increased workload was probably directly related to Jeremy McNichols's absence, but any RB getting 10 targets in a game will draw attention. McNichols could return this week, which would seriously complicate Hilliard's outlook. Even if McNichols is out again, the Titans offense as a whole faces a tough matchup on the road against the Patriots. Despite the volume spike last week, Hilliard is nothing more than a desperation flex play in PPR leagues for Week 12.
