LV WR Davante Adams - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. New York Giants

Davante Adams was “targeted” seven times on Monday night, though the quality of the targets left much to be desired. Adams ended up with a lone reception for 11 yards and then watched his head coach, general manager, and offensive coordinator get fired in the following days. Plus, the Raiders are switching quarterbacks.

This week, Adams faces a Giants offense that ranks 11th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. You have to start Adams, given his habit of getting a ton of targets and finding the end zone, but he’s not without risk in a tougher matchup. This game could get ugly. We have him ranked as a low-end WR1 instead of his normal elite status.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Detroit Lions

Davante Adams was targeted 12 times last week by the duo of Brian Hoyer and Aidan O’Connell in a lopsided loss to the Bears. That volume led to just 57 yards on seven receptions. It’s been a disappointing season for the Raiders so far, but Adams is still getting regular targets. He’s averaging 10.1 targets per game and he’s due for a touchdown, having not scored since Week 3.

This week, Adams has a nice matchup against a Detroit defense that ranks 25th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Start him in a game the Raiders should be playing from behind in. Adams will hopefully get Jimmy Garoppolo back under center. We have him ranked as a low-end WR1 option.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Chicago Bears

Davante Adams struggled against a stingy Patriots defense last week, catching just two balls for 29 yards. It was his lowest total of the season, but the Patriots are really good at limiting opposing offense’s best weapons. They’ve successfully stymied the likes of Tyreek Hill, CeeDee Lamb, and Chris Olave this season.

This week, Adams faces a Chicago defense that ranks 15th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Expect a bounce-back week for the veteran superstar as he won’t be facing Bill Belichick and his ridiculous ability to scheme against opposing WR1’s this year. We have him as an elite fantasy option once again, regardless of the quarterback situation. Keep an eye on his shoulder injury, but as long he’s active, start him.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. New England Patriots

Davante Adams is nicked up and struggled early on in the Monday night victory over the Packers. He was questionable heading into the game and wound up with four catches for 45 yards. He looked healthy in the fourth quarter, however, so fantasy managers shouldn’t be too concerned about him moving forward.

This week, Adams has a tough matchup against a New England defense that ranks 11th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. The Patriots tend to excel at shutting down their opponents’ best offensive weapon, but Adams is too talented to sit. Temper expectations, but keep him active as long as he isn’t a late scratch.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Green Bay Packers

Davante Adams had a quiet day by his standards last week against the Chargers, but he still wound up with 75 yards on eight receptions. Adams was also targeted 13 times and now has 50 targets on the year. Only Puka Nacua has more this season.

This week, Adams will face his former team, and a Green Bay defense that ranks 18th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Expect another busy day for Adams, who should benefit if Jimmy Garoppolo gets out of concussion protocol, as expected. Adams is a must-start every week, regardless of matchup or quarterback. We have him ranked as an elite WR1 in all fantasy formats.

Update: With Adams questionable, make sure you have a backup plan in place for Monday night. Jayden Reed or Jakobi Meyers are worth rostering if you need to make a last minute switch.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Los Angeles Chargers

Davante Adams exploded last week with 13 catches for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was targeted 20 times in a loss to the Steelers, and while he’s expressed some frustration about the team’s status as a non-contender, he’s still producing. He has three touchdowns and 37 targets so far this year.

Adams has a great matchup this week against the Chargers, who rank 31st in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Expect another busy day for the veteran and for him to find plenty of room against this secondary. The Chargers should be able to keep the Raiders throwing the ball, so we have Adams ranked inside our top five wide receivers this week. Start him.

LV WR Davante Adams - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Davante Adams left last week’s game with a head injury, but early signs are that he’ll be good to go for Week 3. Last week, he had six catches for 84 yards and the Raiders’ lone touchdown in a lopsided loss to the Bills. Adams now has 17 targets and 12 receptions through two games, so his usage looks like it hasn’t gone anywhere after getting 180 targets last season.

This week, Adams faces a tough Pittsburgh defense that wrecked havoc on the Browns’ passing game on Monday night. However, Adams is so good and he gets so many targets, he remains a must-start in every league, regardless of matchup. Check the status on his head injury, but if he starts, keep him active as an elite fantasy option.
