Week 15 at Cleveland Browns

Darren Waller has missed the last couple of games with an injury and he’s considered day-to-day. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status and have a backup plan in place, but he’s a must-start if he returns to action. The Raiders are a mess, offensively, without him and he should walk back into consistent targets when he’s healthy.

This week, Waller faces a Browns defense that ranks 26th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. If he starts – and that sounds like a big if – then he should be active in all leagues. But watch that injury report carefully heading into Saturday, as he’s not considered likely to start. The good news is that you’ll know on Saturday whether he’s going to play, so that gives you time for a backup plan. Tread lightly.

Week 14 at Kansas City Chiefs

Darren Waller is considered day-to-day and will continue to be evaluated as the week progresses. Fantasy managers should watch his status carefully, and be sure to have a backup plan in place in case he’s a late scratch against the Chiefs. Kansas City ranks 27th in aFPA to opposing tight ends, so he’ll be a must-start if he’s active. Be sure to roster Foster Moreau as well for a backup plan, as he’s a viable streamer in this matchup.

Update: Waller is inactive, so be sure to fire up Moreau.

Week 12 at Dallas Cowboys

Darren Waller had a nice game against the Bengals last week, catching seven of eight targets for 116 yards. It was a season-high for yardage for him and tied for his second-most receptions this year. Despite his struggles and only having two touchdowns, Waller is still third among tight ends this year in fantasy points – and still ninth if you exclude his explosive Week 1 outlier.

This week, Waller faces a Cowboys defense that ranks 13th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. With the massive dearth of options at the position and his success last week, Waller remains an elite fantasy option in leagues where the tight end is separate. Start him.

Week 11 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Darren Waller had seven targets last week against the Chiefs, but he caught just four of them for 24 yards. It was his worst game of the season, as the Raiders were blown out by the Chiefs. Waller hasn’t been the dominant fantasy force he was last season, but the potential is still there. He only has one game with less than seven targets and seems due for a touchdown after being kept out of the end zone for his past four games.

This week, Waller has a tougher matchup against the Bengals, who rank 10th in aFPA to opposing tight ends behind an athletic and young group of linebackers and safeties. In such a thin position group, Waller is a must-start in all fantasy leagues, despite his modest production this season. Keep him active.

Week 10 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Darren Waller led the team with 11 targets last week against the Giants, catching seven balls for 92 yards. He’s struggled to find the end zone this year, but is still on pace for his third straight 1,000-plus yard season.

This week, Waller faces a Chiefs defense that ranks 28th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. Waller is a must-start every week, but especially so in what looks like a good matchup and a good game script for significant targets. Hopefully, he’ll get back into the end zone this week. Start him.

Week 9 at New York Giants

Darren Waller missed the game before the bye against the Eagles as a late scratch. While he hasn’t been the dominant force he was last year, he still leads the team in targets and is still sixth among tight ends in fantasy points per game.

This week, Waller faces a Giants defense that ranks 10th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. Regardless of matchup, Waller is a must-start every week. With Henry Ruggs no longer on the team, he’s definitely not losing any targets and he has the potential to explode in any given week. Barring any injury setbacks, he should be active in all leagues as an elite fantasy option.

LV TE Darren Waller - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Darren Waller had another quality outing against the Broncos last week, catching all five of his targets for 59 yards. Waller hasn’t been the force he was last year, but he’s still leading the team in targets, which is enough to continue considering him as an elite option at tight end.

This week, Waller faces an Eagles defense that ranks 16th in aFPA to opposing tight ends. His target share and a decent matchup have him right back in the top five of our rankings this week, but honestly, you’re not sitting Waller even if the matchup was bad. He’s one of the few elite tight ends and is a must-start every week.

Update: Waller is questionable and it's a late start for the Raiders today, so have a backup plan ready, just in case he sits. Foster Moreau is probably on waivers if things get desperate.
