Scouting report

by Anthony Stalter

STL TE Cory Harkey - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3: Harkey vs. Cowboys
Cory Harkey caught two passes for 8 yards in the Rams' Week 2 win over the Buccaneers. He largely serves as the team's H-back in a run-first offense and he doesn't receive enough opportunities in the passing game to be worth a fantasy roster spot. Leave him on your waiver wire.

STL TE Cory Harkey - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2: Harkey vs. Bucs
Cory Harkey caught one pass for four yards in the Rams' Week 1 loss to the Vikings. He'll continue to serve as the team's H-back and is not a fantasy option.

STL TE Cory Harkey - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Cory Harkey carved out a role as an H-back in the Rams' two-TE formations. He caught two touchdowns a year ago and the team likes to throw to him in the flats. It's assumed that he would take over the role currently held by Lance Kendricks if the latter were to get injured.

Fantasy Downside
Harkey caught just 13 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns a year ago and it's highly unlikely that he improves upon even those paltry numbers. His role is limited in Brian Schottenheimer's offense.

Bottom Line
Harkey isn't on the fantasy radar and should be avoided in your drafts. In fact, he could lose what little playing time he has if Alex Bayer continues to turn heads in preseason.
