Scouting report

ARI RB Chase Edmonds - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at San Francisco 49ers

Chase Edmonds had seven carries and three receptions last week against the Packers for a total of 69 yards. Edmonds is an active part of the offense, but he’s not getting enough touches to put up big numbers and he’s not finding the end zone much. His touchdown last week – scored on a wildcat snap – was his first of the season.

This week, Edmonds faces a 49ers defense that ranks 12th in aFPA to opposing running backs. Edmonds’ high floor makes him worth starting in most leagues as a low-end RB2 option. Hopefully, he can find the end zone again and continue to be used a bit in the red zone.

ARI RB Chase Edmonds - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Green Bay Packers

Chase Edmonds led the team with 15 carries last week against the Texans last week, finishing with 81 yards on the ground to go with a nine-yard reception. It was good to see Edmonds with double-digit touches after failing to get there in the previous two games, despite having a season-low three targets and one reception.

This week, Edmonds gets a Packers defense that ranks 14th in aFPA to opposing running backs. It’s a tough matchup, but there’s upside if the Packers' offense can keep the Cardinals in passing situations. Edmonds gets a little boost in PPR formats, but we have him ranked as a fringe RB2 or flex option in most leagues.

ARI RB Chase Edmonds - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Houston Texans

Chase Edmonds only had four carries for 46 yards last week against the Browns, as the Cardinals got ahead and ran James Conner 16 times. Edmonds still had three receptions on four targets, however, and he has had at least four targets in each game this season.

This week, Edmonds has a great matchup against a Texans defense that ranks 21st in aFPA to opposing running backs. It may be another outing where Conner gets the bulk of the work – assuming the Cardinals get up early again – but Edmonds should get his work in. We have him ranked as an RB2 this week, and fantasy managers should definitely dial him up in a good matchup. Check the injury reports, however, as he’s dealing with a shoulder issue right now.

ARI RB Chase Edmonds - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Cleveland Browns

Chase Edmonds had a down week against the 49ers last Sunday with just nine touches, including three receptions, for a total of 34 yards. Edmonds hasn’t lit the world on fire, but his 4.6 receptions per game have helped make him a high-floor option in PPR leagues.

It’s a tough matchup for Edmonds this week against a Browns defense that ranks sixth in aFPA to opposing running backs, although they did allow three touchdowns to Austin Ekeler last week in a shootout with the Chargers. Expect Edmonds to see heavy work in the offense and to be a low-end RB2 option, with a slight bump in full-PPR formats.

ARI RB Chase Edmonds - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Chase Edmonds had 12 carries for 120 yards last week against the Rams, and he added 19 yards on four receptions. Edmonds is averaging five receptions per game, as well as 10.75 carries, giving him a nice fantasy floor, especially in PPR formats.

This week, Edmonds faces a 49ers defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to opposing running backs. It should be another solid outing for him, and fantasy managers should keep him active as a solid RB2 option. Hopefully, he can find the end zone, but even if he can’t, his activity in the passing game should give him a nice boost.

ARI RB Chase Edmonds - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Los Angeles Rams

Chase Edmonds had 11 carries for 26 yards last week against the Jaguars, but he added 49 yards on seven receptions and was tied for the team-high with eight targets on the day. Edmonds is averaging 15.7 touches per game, including 5.3 receptions, giving him a high floor in PPR formats.

This week, Edmonds faces a Rams defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to opposing running backs. The Rams offense will put points up, which should keep the Cardinals throwing the ball. That might mean more looks for Edmonds, who has low-end RB2 potential in PPR formats.

ARI RB Chase Edmonds - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Jacksonville Jaguars

Chase Edmonds is splitting time with James Conner, but has seen the field for 61% of the team’s offensive snaps thus far, including 64% last week in a shootout with the Vikings. Edmonds finished the game with eight carries and five receptions for 75 total yards from scrimmage. He’ll continue to have value in PPR formats, with nine catches already through two games.

This week, Edmonds gets a nice matchup against the Jaguars, who allowed a touchdown to three different running backs against Houston in Week 1, and gave up 96 yards on the ground against Denver. Expect another 10+ touches and significant targets for Edmonds, giving him low-end RB2 value with upside in PPR formats.
