DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs New York Jets

Fantasy managers who took CeeDee Lamb early in drafts would have been hoping the New York Giants would put up a fight in Week 1, leading to a shootout with plenty of opportunities for Lamb to rack up the fantasy points. They would end up being disappointed, as the lopsided Cowboys win saw Lamb held to just four targets. In his defense, he did catch all four for 77 yards. But he could only muster 9.7 Half-PPR points, "good" for WR32 on the week.

The Cowboys wide receivers face the toughest matchup on the Week 2 slate as they take on the New York Jets, which puts something of a cap on expectations for fantasy managers. But Lamb is the undisputed target leader, and his ability to command the lion's share of the targets in the passing game should be enough to ensure he churns out a fantasy-relevant week. He's a low-end WR1 this week.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at New York Giants

CeeDee Lamb established himself as the true alpha of the Cowboys passing attack in 2022, as he set career highs across the board. Lamb caught 107 of his 156 targets for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns, collecting 14.6 Half-PPR points per game on his way to finishing as the WR6.

Anyone who rostered Lamb should have absolutely no worries about starting him this week against the New York Giants. The Giants finished 16th in aFPA to wide receivers a year ago, and Lamb should continue to command a high target share even with Brandin Cooks now in the wide receiver room. Lamb should comfortably post WR1 numbers in Week 1.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
CeeDee Lamb showed signs of becoming a superstar performer in 2022. He finished fourth among all wide receivers with 107 receptions and sixth with 1,359 yards on his way to finishing as the WR6 in Half-PPR formats. Brandin Cooks arriving in Dallas provides some stiff target competition, but the losses of tight end Dalton Schultz and Ezekiel Elliott should ensure plenty of targets for Lamb.

Fantasy Downside
Kellen Moore's lighting up the scoreboard has been replaced by Brian Schottenheimer and Mike McCarthy's "keep the defense" fresh attitude on offense. This could lead to a major scaling back of the Cowboys' pass attempts, which considering they were only 19th in pass attempts a year ago could be a serious blow to Lamb and the other Cowboys pass catchers.

2023 Bottom Line
Even if the Cowboys adopt a more run-heavy approach, Lamb is likely to be the guy Dak Prescott looks for whenever they deign to air the ball out. He has all the hallmarks of a top-five fantasy wide receiver, even if he does end up playing on a prehistoric offense.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Tennessee Titans
CeeDee Lamb's strong season continued last week against Philadelphia. Logging 10 catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns, he was a big reason why some fantasy teams are moving onto the championship.

I am expecting another huge week for Lamb. With the Titans secondary being as bad as they are, Prescott should be looking to throw the ball a ton. That bodes well for his top target in Lamb. Start him as a WR1 once again.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Unfortunately not capping off his massive day with a score, CeeDee Lamb still impressed. Hauling in seven receptions for 126 yards, Lamb was once again Prescott's go to receiver.

I am going to temper expectations in this matchup as the Philadelphia defense has been great against the pass. Last week, Chicago's leading receiver had just 39 yards. With that being said, I am still starting Lamb and hoping he can find the endzone. Don't overthink it.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Jacksonville Jaguars
A rather quiet week for CeeDee Lamb, putting up just five catches for 33 yards, all fantasy managers can do is look ahead to this next matchup.

I expect a lot of points to be scored in this game, and with Jacksonville being susceptible to the pass, Prescott should look Lamb's way early and often. It would not surprise me to see Lamb put up triple digit receiving yards while finding the end zone. He is a sure fire WR1 this week.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Houston Texans
While it was another good week for CeeDee Lamb, it wasn't one of those blowup weeks. Logging five catches for 71 yards and a touchdown, Lamb also added two rushes for 23 yards. In a game that got out of hand quickly, fantasy managers should be pleased with this performance.

This week, I am expecting similar results. With Houston having a solid pass defense, Dallas will win this game in the trenches. I am still starting Lamb as a WR1 and hoping he scores, however, we need to temper expectations this week.
