Scouting report

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Dallas Cowboys
Breece Hall was outstanding in the opener with several big runs that produced 127 yards on just 10 carries. Coming off the ACL, there were questions surrounding him, but it looks like he is healthy. But the injury to QB Aaron Rodgers changes everything for the Jets offense. Hall's stock drops although he will still have value every week.

New York faces the Cowboys who have one of the best defenses in the NFL. That matchup won't help Hall this week and we expect limited success in Week 2.

Hall is still a starter for Week 2, but he only ranks a RB3 or Flex. Without Rodgers and a tough defense on road, it's hard to imagine he will repeat the performance from the opener.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Buffalo Bills
Breece Hall will be the No. 1 back for the Jets once he is 100% but that might not be just now. He is questionable for Monday night and Dalvin Cook will definitely take some touches away from him, especially early in the season.

If Hall plays against Buffalo, we don't expect a full workload. He has never faced the Bills and Buffalo's defense is solid. So, even if he were healthy, this wouldn't be the best matchup.

Start Hall for Week 1 if he is active, but only as a RB3 or Flex. The Jets will work him in more every game and eventually he could be that RB1 everyone drafted.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

UPDATE
The signing of Dalvin Cook means that Breece Hall might be brought along a little slower from his injury. However, his ranking doesn't change that much. Hall is probably a mid-level RB2 now because Cook will take away more touches than Michael Carter would have.

Fantasy Upside
Breece Hall was on his way to a possible rookie of the year award before he blew out his knee after only seven games. He averaged 5.8 yards per carry and was ranking as a fantasy RB1 throughout the first half of the season. Hall was very much involved in the passing game which will improve with Aaron Rodgers coming in as the new quarterback. A better Jets offense means better running back numbers

Fantasy Downside
The injury is the biggest red flag for Hall. All reports he will be at full strength for training camp and he has progressed well with his rehab. There are also still some concern about the offensive line, but that unit should be good enough for the offense to succeed.

2023 Bottom Line
Hall ranks just outside being a RB1 for 2023. He still will be an effective fantasy running back as we expect 1,250 total yards from scrimmage. He probably is a risky pick if he is your top back because of the knee and the unknown that comes with it, but if you can draft Hall in the third round as your second running back on your roster, you covered your backfield well.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Denver Broncos
Breece Hall reached the 20-carry mark for the first time in his short NFL career. He also has 19+ touches in three straight games. Last week, he ended up with 116 rushing yards for the first time in his career and scored a touchdown for the third straight game. His stock is rising.

Hall will face the Broncos who are ranked 8th in aFPA to running backs. He is still playing about 2/3 of the snaps but has become the workhorse of the Jets offense in recent weeks.

Start Hall as a high-end RB2 for Week 7. If it wasn't for the tough matchup, he might be ranked higher, but he should still have some good numbers for your team.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Green Bay Packers
It was a breakout game for Breece Hall who had 98 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving. The rookie set all kinds of personal highs and got the attention of every fantasy manager out there. It started two weeks ago with 17 carries, but now he is no secret.

Hall played 69% of the snaps and that number was enough to get 20 touches. Next, he will face the Packers who are ranked 15th in aFPA to running backs. It won't be so easy on the road, but we feel he will be a more regular contributor now week-to-week.

Start Hall as a high-end RB2 for Week 6. The numbers might not by as high this week, but the 20 touches should happen again.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Miami
Breece Hall had his best game of the season rushing a season-high 17 times for 66 yards. He also added his first rushing touchdowns. More important he played 66% of the snaps compared to 44% for Michael Carter. Most experts predicted Hall would eventually be the main running back and we are probably seeing that transition now.

The Jets face division-rival Miami at home and the Dolphins are ranked 16th in aFPA to running backs. The fact that Hall had 19 touches is significant in the fantasy world and he raises his fantasy stock heading into Sunday.

Start Hall as an RB3 or Flex for Week 5. We expect him to have some decent numbers again although we still question the Jets offense as a whole and that could hold him back.

NYJ RB Breece Hall - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Pittsburgh Steelers
Breece Hall had 14 touches which was his highest of the season. More significant was he had more offensive snaps (51% to 49%) than Michael Carter. Hall ended up with 92 total yards. This is probably a sign the Jets are getting more comfortable with Hall in the lineup and even though Carter might be called the starter, Hall should be their outright No. 1 running back soon.

Hall faces the Steelers who are ranked 11th in aFPA to running backs. Teams over the past couple games have had some success running against Pittsburgh in the second half. Don't be surprised if Hall gets 10+ carries for the first time this season.

Start Hall as a RB3 or Flex for Week 4. Although the upward trend in touches and production is encouraging, we still see this as a two-back system for New York.
