Scouting report

HOU WR Andre Johnson - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 – Andre Johnson vs. Tennessee Titans
Despite Ryan Mallett throwing the ball 45 times in the loss to the Bengals last Sunday, Andre Johnson finished with only three grabs for 36 yards on 12 looks. Andre finished with seven grabs for 55 yards in the previous meeting with the Titans this season, but whoever has been QBing the offense has had a tough time moving the team through the air. Tennessee allows 233 passing yards per game, so consider Johnson more of a WR3/flex option with Ryan Fitzpatrick back under center.

HOU WR Andre Johnson - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Andre Johnson vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Texans offense showed a little more life last week in Cleveland with Ryan Mallett at QB. He targeted Andre Johnson a team-high nine times, leading to seven grabs for 68 yards. Andre is averaging 5.5 receptions per game, but still has just the one TD, despite seeing plenty of red zone looks. Look for Mallett to continue to look to the veteran, making Johnson a low-end WR2 play versus Cincinnati.

HOU WR Andre Johnson - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 – Andre Johnson vs. Cleveland Browns
Out of the Houston starting WRs, DeAndre Hopkins has had the better statistical season so far. Andre Johnson has six more receptions through the first nine games, but Hopkins has over 100 more yards and has scored four times compared to Andre’s one. Arian Foster hurt his groin in the game two weeks ago before the Texans’ bye, which could result in more passing plays, especially now that Ryan Mallett is calling the signals. The Browns allow 232 yards per game through the air, making Johnson a WR3 play on Sunday.

HOU WR Andre Johnson - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 – Andre Johnson vs. Philadelphia Eagles
At Tennessee last Sunday, Andre Johnson was targeted a team high 12 times, resulting in seven receptions for 55 yards. It matched a season-high in grabs, but the yardage total was his lowest since Week 3. The Texans still like to control the clock with the ground game and they’re a better team when Ryan Fitzpatrick is managing the game rather than trying to do too much. Philadelphia was burned for two long TDs last week in Arizona and is 26th versus the pass. Johnson makes for a WR2 play on Sunday.

HOU WR Andre Johnson - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Andre Johnson vs. Tennessee Titans
In the loss at Pittsburgh on Monday night, Andre Johnson was targeted nine times, resulting in five receptions for 77 yards. So far in ’14, he does not have a 100-yard game and has only one TD. However, he continues to receive a decent amount of looks from Ryan Fitzpatrick, including in the red zone. Andre hasn’t scored the last five times he’s faced the Titans, but Tennessee is No. 21 in total defense, making Johnson a WR2 play.

HOU WR Andre Johnson - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Andre Johnson vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Andre Johnson had his best game of ’14 in the loss to the Colts last Thursday, but his lost fumble in the final five minutes with the Texans driving hurt. On the night, Andre collected team highs of seven receptions and 99 yards and also scored his first TD of the season. Of Ryan Fitzpatrick’s 23 pass attempts, 12 went in the direction of No. 80. Johnson is averaging 70 yards per game, but will be facing the league’s 10th best defense at stopping the pass in Pittsburgh on Monday night.

HOU WR Andre Johnson - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Andre Johnson vs. Indianapolis Colts
Ryan Fitzpatrick threw the ball just 25 times in the loss to the Cowboys last week, with a team-high eight passes going in the direction of Andre Johnson. No. 80 had a sore ankle heading into the contest and finished with five receptions for 58 yards. He is averaging 64 yards per game, but still has yet to score in ’14. With Arian Foster back healthy, look for the Texans to continue to feed him the rock, limiting Andre’s chances. Against Indy on Thursday, Johnson makes for more of a WR3 play.
