Scouting report

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Los Angeles Rams
A.J. Dillon's Week 15 fantasy projection depends largely on teammate Aaron Jones' health. Jones left last week's game with a shin issue, only to return the game briefly in the second half before being shut down for good. It sounds like Jones will practice this week, but if he were to miss Week 15's game against the Rams Dillon would instantly vault to RB1 status in our rankings as someone who should dominate his team's backfield work. If Jones ends up active on Monday, Dillon will likely resume his role as the change-of-pace option in Green Bay. To sum it up: if Jones is inactive, Dillon is a must-start RB1. If Jones is active, Dillon makes for a risky flex option who will likely see limited volume in the box score.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Chicago Bears
A.J. Dillon only saw 11 touches in Week 12, but he logged 88 total yards from scrimmage and found the end zone on the ground. He is still clearly second fiddle to Aaron Jones at this point, but the Packers backfield gets a great overall matchup this week against a soft Bears run defense. Dillon is a risky fantasy bet given that he is at a weekly risk of low-volume as a change-of-pace type back, but there is potential for decent production this week if the Packers can hammer the Bears on the ground with both Dillon and Jones. Dillon is a low-end flex play given his volume concerns, but he is not totally off the radar in a game where he should see some opportunity in a good matchup.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Philadelphia Eagles
A.J. Dillon has been relegated to strictly backup and change-of-pace duties behind Aaron Jones in recent weeks and hasn't exceeded 65 yards from scrimmage since Week 4. Dillon is not going to be useful for fantasy with that type of usage and only a single touchdown on the season. The Packers get the Eagles in Week 12, who boast an above-average defense against opposing running backs and are heavy favorites in betting markets. Dillon will get his usual allotment of touches, but he is unlikely to do much with them this week and is not worthy of a start in fantasy.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Tennessee Titans
A.J. Dillon saw 13 carries in relief of Aaron Jones in Week 10, but he is clearly a secondary option in the Green Bay backfield at this point. Dillon is seeing very limited usage in the passing game with five targets over his last four games combined. Outside of very positive game script or a total shootout, Dillon simply will not see enough usage to warrant a fantast start most weeks. That's especially true this week when the Packers face off against the Titans' strong run defense in what projects to be a slow-paced game. Dillon is best left on benches this week.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Dallas Cowboys
A.J. Dillon out-snapped Aaron Jones in Week 9 (Jones left late with an ankle issue), but he only managed 44 scoreless yards as the entire Packers offense was atrocious in what should have been a tissue-soft matchup against Detroit. X-rays were negative on Jones' ankle, so the split RB workload will likely continue in Week 10 as Green Bay will host the Cowboys and their ferocious defense. If the Packers couldn't score against the Lions, their prospects of producing much offense against the Cowboys are slim. Dillon will be a volume-based RB2 if Jones sits out this week, but if Jones is active Dillon is a poor starting option in a brutal matchup.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Detroit Lions
A.J. Dillon continues to be the distant second option behind Aaron Jones in the Green Bay backfield. Dillon saw 10 carries and a single target in Week 8 against 20 carries and five targets for Jones. The Packers have suddenly committed to Jones as a workhorse back, which has obviously sapped a ton of Dillon's fantasy value. The good news is all of the Packers players get massive matchup bumps in fantasy this week facing off with a Lions defense that is bottom-five against both the run and pass. Dillon is not worth starting most weeks as things currently stand, but he is workable as a flex this week simply because there should be plenty of production to go around against the Lions.

GB RB A.J. Dillon - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Buffalo Bills
A.J. Dillon was already struggling to produce value this season, and in Week 7 he was relegated to backup duties with a paltry 27.7% snap share and only four carries with no targets. Yikes. The Packers appear to (wisely) be giving more work to Aaron Jones, which will inevitably come at Dillon's expense. Dillon has now played less than 50% of Green Bay's offensive snaps in three straight games, including two weeks where he was below 33%. For now, Dillon cannot be started in fantasy leagues as he is just not seeing enough usage to log productive games.
