GB RB Aaron Jones - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

A week after looking like the lead back again in Green Bay, Aaron Jones was outplayed by A.J. Dillon against the Steelers. Jones did see more passing down and 2-minute snaps than Dillon, but was outproduced by his backup yet again. In a season full of one step forward and two steps back for the Packers skill position players, the trend continued for Jones.

The Chargers are going to be an ideal matchup for the Packers across the board, and Jones and Dillon are going to be facing the defense that is 23rd aFPA against running backs. It's always been easier to run on the Chargers, but ever-so-slightly this year it has become easier to pass on them. That's not to say this is a tough matchup, but given the split in workload, Jones isn't in as ideal a spot as the passing game. Jones is a back-end RB2 this week and should be started in all formats and just hope he gets the A side of the 1A/1B split this week.

GB RB Aaron Jones - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Pittsburgh Steelers

There was some coachspeak last week that Jones would see more of the workload against the Rams and, thankfully, that proved to be the case. AJ Dillon still saw 40% of the snaps, but most of the workload went to Jones following a close to 50/50 split while Jones had been healthy. It proved to be the right call as the Packers won their first game in over a month and Jordan Love looked competent at QB.

The Steelers are 20th aFPA against running back and with Jones having the majority of the workload, this puts him squarely in the RB2 mix with the upside of a RB1 week thanks to the matchup. Start Jones confidently this week.

GB RB Aaron Jones - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs Los Angeles Rams

Aaron Jones was reportedly back close to 100 percent health last week, but you wouldn't have been able to tell it from his workload. He had 12 opportunities last week to AJ Dillon's 11 and the extra opportunity was a carry. Jones and Dillon saw the same number of targets (5), while Dillon managed to catch all five of his, Jones only managed four.

It's a full-blown committee in Green Bay and in a tough matchup against the Rams defense, 5th in aFPA against running backs, it's not looking great for Jones. He's a back-end RB2 this week and you'll need to have the workload increase a bit to see any ceiling. I'd start him, but wouldn't feel great about it.

GB RB Aaron Jones - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Aaron Jones returned, but not to a full-time role against the Broncos. In fact, A.J. Dillon had more rushing attempts and ran more routes than Jones. However, Jones did have a higher target percentage (13% to 7%) in Week 7. Unfortunately, he also lost 8% of snaps to Emanuel Wilson as well.

Minnesota has been better against the run than the pass this year, ranking 8th in aFPA against running backs. Given the timeshare with Dillon and potentially others Jones is a border RB2 or potentially flex play this week in half PPR. In full-point PPR you can feel a little more confident given the receiving role he still manages to have.

GB RB Aaron Jones - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Denver Broncos/strong>

If it wasn't clear at the beginning of the season it should be clear now -- Aaron Jones is, by far, the best back in Green Bay. He hasn't been healthy this season with only 17 touches in two games played, but he is needed back in a big way for the Packers.

The Broncos are 32nd in aFPA against running backs, so in this dream matchup Jones should hopefully thrive if he's fully healthy. We'd love to see A.J. Dillon phased out a little more, but that remains to be seen. Jones is a borderline RB1 with the upside of more in this potential smash spot.

GB RB Aaron Jones - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Las Vegas Raiders

Aaron Jones looks like the clear best option in the Green Bay backfield through the first few weeks. It's tough to say that after a five-carry game for 18 yards and negative receiving yards against the Lions, A.J. Dillon struggled even more. With a long layoff after the Thursday Night game to a Monday Night game, Jones should hopefully be even healthier than last week.

Jones is in the RB2 mix this week with the upside of a fringe RB1 courtesy of a great matchup against the Raiders who are surrendering 21.3 (24th aFPA) fantasy points to running backs in half PPR.

GB RB Aaron Jones - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Detroit Lions

Aaron Jones is expected back this week after missing the past two weeks which should help the Packers offense as a whole as A.J. Dillon has fallen flat as the starter. Unfortunately, the matchup against Detroit isn't an ideal return as the Lions rank #1 in aFPA against running backs in full-point PPR.

Jones comes in 18th in projections this week at the running back position, but as long as he's active you're likely starting him. He's an RB2 this week with some upside as the Packers come in as a slight underdog and he could get a little more work in the passing game.
