DEN QB Orton to get big workload vs. Jets

It's rare that Broncos coach Josh McDaniels will place a burden on one particular player.

But with an ailing defense, a stalled running game and a short-handed special-teams unit heading into Sunday's game against the New York Jets, McDaniels had no problem doing just that.

"This is a big week for Kyle Orton," McDaniels said. "That's what I think."

McDaniels said it will be up to Orton, the starting quarterback, to diagnose the Jets' complex variety of blitzes and make sure the offensive line understands who to block.

Orton is second in the league in passing yards, with 1,733, and is averaging 346.6 yards per game. The Jets' defense is allowing only 234.6 passing yards a game and has 12 sacks in five games.
