Eastern Michigan needs to win its final two games of the season to earn bowl eligibility. They close the season against 3-7 Buffalo so it's an attainable goal for them. Eastern Michigan hadn't been to a bowl game since 1987 before Chris Creighton took over and a bowl trip would be a sixth bowl game in 10 years. Akron was frisky early in the season, but things have bottomed out since losing quarterback DJ Irons to a season-ending injury in a loss to Buffalo in late September.
