It was a high-scoring and exciting Week One of the 2026 season. For the opening week, we had relatively few injuries or surprise performances. That’s probably good news for the teams we drafted but does result in a somewhat thin waiver wire. I remember having similar thoughts last year but players like Kenneth Gainwell and Harold Fannin were still available on the waiver wire.
I’ll be here each week for a breakdown of the top waiver wire targets and players it’s time to get off your squad. For this year, the recommended additions will be available in more than 60% of Yahoo fantasy football leagues, while the Drop List will consist of players rostered in at least 50% of leagues. Each position group will also include a Watch List. If your league is deeper with larger rosters, this is the spot for you.
The Overall Top 10 is prioritized by typical league settings and roster construction, with room for adjustment based on your league’s rules and format. This is how I would order the top waiver wire claims heading to Week 1.
