9 Overvalued Defenders for IDP Fantasy Football Leagues in 2026

It's not that these are bad players or that they won't have any IDP value this season, but at the moment, they're being drafted earlier than I'd advise. This is a list of 'let them be someone else's problem' players, if you will.

A lot has happened across the league since I published my positional tier articles a few weeks back, and this is a great place to capture some of the crucial changes as we enter the heart of fantasy draft season.

Those tier articles have write-ups that are still of value, but if you're drafting in the coming weeks, the IDP rankings are where you'll want to go. Those will be updated daily moving forward, and I'm available for 4for4 subscribers in our Discord at any time.

For this piece, I'm using my positional rankings compared to the Expert Consensus Rankings on FantasyPros.com. If there's a massive gap between my projection of a player and the "ECR," that's a pretty clear indicator that I value that player differently than the general IDP community, and that's how we win.

I'm also going to stay near the top of each position's ADP here so that these recommendations are useful for even the shallowest leagues.

Overvalued Defenders for IDP

Defensive Linemen

Micah Parsons - Green Bay Packers

This is pretty straightforward, yet it seems the ranking community is more optimistic about Micah Parsons returning sooner than Micah is. In a recent interview, Parsons said the Week 6 game against the Cowboys would be the earliest he could return, which means we're not getting more than 9 or 10 games from him this season. Even if we assume he's 100% himself from his first snap on, it'd be tough for Parsons to pay off his spot among the top 30 defensive linemen, which is where the FP ECR has him.

Kayvon Thibodeaux - New York Giants

The market has slowly adjusted its expectations of former first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux, but the ECR is still holding out hope that he has value in redraft leagues. I'm not so sure. Thibodeaux underperformed his expected sack mark last season, but not by much. He missed some time, but at 2.5 sacks and an expected number that's still below 4, he's tough to roster when he has little to no tackle floor, and his playing time should dip even when healthy.
