FanDuel Championship Round Slate Breakdown

It’s the Championship Round and these are my FanDuel cash game and tournament strategies. By offering a general approach to the week, along with a player pool to consider, you should walk away feeling well-equipped no matter your bankroll strategy or game selection process.

On short slates, it’s usually wise to dial back volume and favor GPPs. The small player pool leads to a lot of overlap between lineups, leading to more variance. Since virtually any player that sees significant playing time is in play on such a small slate, this breakdown will take a look at each position in terms of potential core and contrarian plays, rather than the traditional breakdown format that we have used all season.

Saints vs Rams

Championship weekend kicks off with the Rams visiting New Orleans in a game with a 57-point over/under and the Saints favored by three. While Drew Brees ($8,800) has the better matchup against a Rams defense that finished the season ranked 23rd in schedule-adjusted fantasy points (aFPA) allowed to quarterbacks, Jared Goff ($8,000) projects as a slightly better ceiling value due to his depressed price tag. The intrigue in rostering Goff this weekend is that he allows you to roster an extra stud at the skill positions. With only four options on the slate, it wouldn’t be surprising to see each quarterback push 20 percent ownership but being the most overweight on Goff looks to be the best leverage play against the field this week.
