Daily Fantasy: Week 3 FanDuel Optimal Plays
Week 2 was a bad one for me, and I was really lucky to escape it losing only $70. I was particularly poor on FanDuel, getting saved by a $150 tournament cash. With so many fish on FanDuel, though, it’s an outstanding long-term money-making opportunity, so hopefully I can rebound here in Week 3.
FanDuel will be hosting a 4for4.com $2,000 Week 3 Tournament. The winner takes home $500 and a free ticket into the FFFC Week 11 Super Qualifier ($200) value. FanDuel doesn’t typically offer as many overlay situations as some other sites, so it’s definitely a good idea to get into these whenever possible.
Using the FanDuel Week 3 Value Report, let’s take a look at a few guys I like in Week 3.
Value Plays
QB Alex Smith $6700 (@PHI)
As I’ve explained in the past, FanDuel underprices their elite guys, so you want to get as many of them into your lineup as possible. To do that, you can and should implement a high-low strategy, generally fading mid-tier players who won’t allow you to go big elsewhere.
Smith is one of those guys who can allow you to jump on Adrian Peterson-esque players. And he’s playing the Eagles, so there’s a decent chance he throws for 2,000 yards this week.
RB Adrian Peterson $9500 (vs CLE)
Peterson showed last week that it just doesn’t matter who he’s playing. The Vikings don’t have a passing game and Peterson still can’t be stopped, so he’s only going to get better if Christian Ponder can find a receiver more than five yards downfield.
Peterson makes for a great heads-up play because he’s so safe, but he’s also an outstanding player to use in tournaments because he can go for 250 yards on any given Sunday.
WR Julian Edelman $6700 (vs TB)
Tom Brady has targeted Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins a combined 30 times, and they’ve caught nine of those passes. Brady just doesn’t have anyone reliable to target outside of Edelman. Even though FanDuel uses 0.5 PPR scoring, Edelman is still a tremendous value. He’ll live up to his price if he doesn’t score, so any touchdowns are basically “free of charge.”
TE Brandon Myers $4900 (@CAR)
Yet another player in the bargain bin, Myers costs less than Fred Davis, Coby Fleener, and Heath Miller. Only one tight end in the NFL has more targets than Myers through Week 2, and he’s been efficient on those throws. He’s a great heads-up play.
