GB WR Randall Cobb - 2018 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Randall Cobb is now Aaron Rodgers' most tenured receiver with Jordy Nelson out of the picture. And now that Nelson is gone, Cobb could see 100 targets again for the first time since 2015.

Fantasy Downside

Cobb hasn't been a huge fantasy factor the past two seasons since Davante Adams emerged as a secondary target. That might not change this season with Jimmy Graham now on board. It also seems that Cobb's 12-TD season in 2014 was an aberration. He has eight TDs in the past two seasons.

2018 Bottom Line

Cobb's current ADP has him going in rounds 8-10, which sounds about right. He's going to perform like a WR3 this season depending on the matchup, even with Rodgers throwing him the ball. Maybe he gets to 100 targets this season, but he's basically a poor man's Jarvis Landry at this point in his career. That's not a bad thing. He still has value. But he hasn't averaged more than 10.5 yards per catch in any of the past three seasons.

GB WR Randall Cobb - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Detroit Lions

Even with Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson out, Randall Cobb managed just 4 catches for 22 yards last week with Brett Hundley back under center. That will be the case again this week. But he's the most experienced receiver who will play this week, so there's that. He's worth a shot as a FLEX option or even a low-end WR3, but it's a gamble.

GB WR Randall Cobb - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Randall Cobb had 7 catches for 84 yards and a touchdown last week but that doesn't really matter since it came with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. It's back to Brett Hundley again this week and, outside of some flashes here and there, Cobb didn't offer much in terms of fantasy action as anything more than a FLEX play or low-end WR3 with Hundley at QB. That's where he's at again this week.

GB WR Randall Cobb - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Carolina Panthers

Randall Cobb has been erratic all season. He had 8 receptions for 39 yards last week. Aaron Rodgers returning should give him a bump up in possible value. But using him as anything more than a FLEX play or low-end WR3 is a gamble. Cobb just hasn't been consistent enough this season.

GB WR Randall Cobb - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Cleveland Browns

Randall Cobb not only didn't catch a pass last week, he didn't get a target. That's not what you want to hear heading into postseason play. He averaged just under 4 catches per game in Brett Hundley's previous four starts, so maybe he returns to the norm this week. But that's iffy. Cobb shouldn't be used as anything more than a FLEX play.

GB WR Randall Cobb - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Randall Cobb posted a line of 4-58-1 last week, scoring just his second touchdown of the season. He's just not a legitimate scoring threat on a weekly basis. Tampa's defense has been atrocious against opposing receivers, allowing more than 300 yards to the position in each of the past two games. Cobb should get enough work to serve as a low-end WR3 or high-end FLEX option.

GB WR Randall Cobb - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Randall Cobb hauled in 3 passes for 34 yards last week, giving him at least 3 receptions in each of the past three games. But his 34 yards was his lowest yardage output. Cobb probably has more value right now than Jordy Nelson but neither is a sure-fire starter. Cobb is probably the better FLEX play, particularly in PPR leagues. But it's a stretch.

GB WR Randall Cobb - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Randall Cobb had 3 receptions for 52 yards last week and has been more of a yardage weapon since Hundley took over at QB. In fact, in the past two weeks, Cobb has 8 catches for 110 yards, nearly twice the amount of yardage teammate Jordy Nelson has posted in the past three weeks. Use Cobb as a high-end flex play this week against a stingy Ravens defense.

GB WR Randall Cobb - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Chicago Bears

Randall Cobb had a decent week, catching 5 passes for 58 yards against the Lions. There's no reason to think that kind of production can't continue. But he does have just one score this season. And that trend is likely to continue this week. The Bears haven't given up a WR score in their past four games. Cobb has value as a low-end WR3 in PPR leagues. But that's about it.

GB WR Randall Cobb - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Detroit Lions

Randall Cobb recorded just 2 two receptions for 15 yards two weeks ago against the Saints as the entire Green Bay passing game was stuck in neutral. The Lions will present a challenge, as well, but the Packers at least had a week off to work on their timing. Cobb could be useful this week as a flex play in PPR leagues, but he's not going to get you a bunch of yards.
