2017 Bottom Line
Ryan Tannehill is on IR and out for the year after re-injuring the ACL in his knee. Take him off your draft boards.
Week 14 vs. Arizona
During a six-game winning streak, Tannehill threw nine touchdowns and only one interception. But last week bad Tannehill showed up again, as he threw one touchdown and three interceptions against the Ravens. This week, he faces the Cardinals at home. In the fantasy postseason, there are much better options than Tannehill facing a top-10 defense against quarterbacks.
Week 13 at Baltimore
Tannehill made for a good streaming option last week against the pathetic 49ers defense, but it's back to fantasy reality this week, as we have him ranked outside the top-24 quarterbacks for Week 13 in this usually run heavy Dolphins offense. The Dolphins should at least get back part of the three missing starters on the offensive line this week, but center Mike Pouncey is expected to be out again.
Week 12 vs. San Francisco
Tannehill could make for a good streaming option in Week 12 at home against the 49ers, who are 30th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks; however, we still rank Tannehill just outside the top-15 quarterbacks in Week 12 with the Dolphins run-first attack.
Week 11 at Los Angeles
Tannehill faces a Rams defense this week that is top-10 in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. Combine that with a run first offense, led by Jay Ajayi, and Tannehill is not on the fantasy radar in Week 11, unless as a low-end QB2 in 2-QB leagues.
Week 10 at San Diego
As he's been all season, Ryan Tannehill is not a consideration in one-QB leagues in Week 10. The Chargers are top-10 in points allowed to quarterbacks. Tannehill is nothing more than a low-end QB2 option in two quarterback leagues.
Week 9 vs. New York Jets
Ryan Tannehill is outside our top-12 QBs this week, but in a very good matchup against the Jets, it's not hard to see him cracking the top-12 at home with an offensive line that's finally healthy and playing well. Tannehill is actually fourth in the NFL in yards per attempt. If you're a Carr or Roethlisberger owner, who is unsure how much Big Ben will play, Tannehill could be a viable option on your waiver wire.
Week 7 vs. Buffalo
Ryan Tannehill faces a Bills defense that is seventh in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. In his past four games against Buffalo, Tannehill has averaged less than 15 fantasy points. He is barely an option in 2-QB leagues this week, especially considering the continued issues along his offensive line.
Week 6 vs. Pittsburgh
The Dolphins were so bad last week that they cut two starting offensive linemen and were only able to run 35 offensive plays. They are dead last in plays per game, and four worse per game than the next closest team. Ryan Tannehill should not even be starting for you in 2-QB leagues this week.
Week 5 vs. Tennessee
If you watched Thursday Night Football last week, you saw how poorly Tannehill and the Dolphins are playing. He's not a starting option Week 5 against the Titans, as Tennessee is 6th in adjusted points allowed to quarterbacks. There are better bye week fill-in options.
