Week 18 at Dallas Cowboys
Russell Wilson has been all over the map the second half of the season. The one thing to note is he has not had big passing games although ones that have been fantasy friendly. The success of the running game might be a big part of that.
Seattle faces the Cowboys who are 10th in aFPA to quarterbacks. We don't expect much difference in the playoffs. Wilson will be around the 200-250 mark with a score or two, but the running game will rule for the Seahawks. Wilson won't hurt you but there are several better options for Week 18.
Week 17 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Russell Wilson has come up big the last two weeks throwing five touchdown passes without an interception and has pushed the Seahawks into the 2018 playoffs. Wilson is playing good football at the right time of the year and although there isn't much on the line this Sunday, we expect Seattle to play to win.
In the first meeting against the Cardinals, Wilson struggled and was held under 200 yards passing. But he is playing much better now and that leads him to a solid QB1 ranking for Week 17.
Week 16 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
After a bizarre Week 14 performance, Russell Wilson bounced back nicely last week with a 237 passing yard and two touchdown pass performance against the Niners. After going through a mid-season resurgence throwing the ball, Wilson and the Seahawks passing game has regressed so it was good to see him put some decent numbers up albeit it in a loss.
Wilson should have a big game this Sunday night as he faces the Kansas City defense that is ranked 31st in aFPA to quarterbacks. He seems to have healthy receivers for this game which has been an issue. Start Wilson as a top 5 fantasy quarterback for Week 16 in all leagues and formats.
Week 15 at San Francisco 49ers
The passing game for Seattle has become secondary in recent weeks with QB Russell Wilson only throwing 37 passes over the last two games. Two weeks ago, it wasn't a big deal as he threw four touchdown passes, but last week he was awful throwing for only 72 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. He did run for 61 yards but that didn't make up for the passing day.
Maybe the Niners can help Wilson get out of his recent passing game slump. It was against San Francisco that he threw four touchdown passes and the Niners are ranked 28th in aFPA to quarterbacks. In his past six games against the 49ers, Wilson has thrown 12 touchdown passes and only one pick. We say start Wilson Week 15 as a low-end QB1 and the 'Hawks to get the passing game back in gear again.
Week 14 vs. Minnesota Vikings
Russell Wilson completed a season-low 11 passes on a season-low 17 pass attempts last week against the Niners. Bad fantasy week? Not really. Four of those 11 completions were for touchdowns. For the second straight week, he averaged 10.9 yards per pass attempt. Wilson and the Seahawks passing game has been very good in recent weeks.
The 'Hawks will face a tough Minnesota pass defense that is ranked seventh in aFPA to quarterbacks. We expect Seattle to really try to ride the running game. This might limit Wilson's pass attempts to around 20 again and we can't expect him to throw four touchdown passes every week. Keep Wilson on the bench as a solid QB2 for Week 14.
Week 13 vs. San Francisco 49ers
Russell Wilson has had almost identical numbers the past two weeks throwing the ball an average of 31 times and throwing for two touchdowns. He has been very steady in 2018 even though his overall numbers might be down slightly. With his top receivers healthy, the Seahawks passing game has been very efficient.
Wilson will face division rival San Francisco who is ranked 22nd in aFPA to quarterbacks. He has had mixed results against the Niners but has never thrown for more 260 yards against them. He has 17 career touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. With the favorable matchup, Wilson is a strong start for Week 13 as a solid QB1.
Week 12 at Carolina Panthers
Russell Wilson has been very accurate this season, but his passing yards have been down due to the fact he is going with a shorter passing game to help an offensive line that has struggled with protection. Wilson has thrown at least two touchdown passes every game since Week 4. He also only has five interceptions this season.
Wilson will face the Panthers whose defense has struggled in recent games. They are ranked 24th in aFPA to quarterbacks in 2018. However, this game is in Carolina and we expect the Panthers to play with more desperation. Wilson only rates a high-end QB2 for Week 12 and probably should remain on your bench.
Week 11 vs. Green Bay Packers
It was a mixed bag for Russell Wilson last Sunday against LA. Yes, he did throw three touchdowns without an interception and he rushed for a season-high 92 yards, twice as much as his previous high. However, he did fumble once and only threw for 176 yards which was his second-lowest total of the season.
Wilson and the Seahawks have a short week and will face the Packers who are 11th in aFPA to quarterbacks. He is playing his best football right now and has healthy weapons around him. We expect a good performance in prime time so Wilson is rated a solid QB1 for the first time since then September. Start him against Green Bay.
Week 10 at Los Angeles Rams
Russell Wilson threw for a season-high 39 passes and that produced 235 passing yards and two touchdowns. But things seemed off during the game with the passing attack. It has been hard to predict Wilson in 2018 as he seems to have been all over the map with his weekly stats.
Wilson will face a Rams defense that is 11th in aFPA to quarterbacks. In his career, Wilson has had good numbers against the Rams, throwing 17 touchdowns in 13 games while throwing eight picks. This time around, keep Wilson on the bench as he only ranks a mid-range QB2 for Week 10.
Week 9 vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Russell Wilson completed 82 percent of his passes last week against Detroit on only 17 passes, but he averaged 14.6 yards per attempt. Add three touchdowns to his numbers and it was his best fantasy week of the season. Wilson had taken a step back from his numbers in recent years but this might be a sign he is getting back on track.
Wilson will face the Chargers who are ranked 23rd in aFPA to quarterbacks so this is a good matchup for him at home. Wilson has earned a spot back in the top 10 fantasy quarterbacks and should definitely be in your lineup as a QB1 for Week 9.
