SEA RB Rashaad Penny - 2018 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

The Seahawks surprised some people selecting Rashaad Penny in the first round. He had a great college career at San Diego State, including a senior season where he led the nation in rushing with 2,248 yards and 23 touchdowns. Seattle has struggled to find consistency from the running back position, which might explain why Penny was selected. The investment means he will be used a lot as the Seahawks see him as a featured back moving forward.

Fantasy Downside

Penny put up big numbers in college but didn't play in a Power 5 conference. He also runs upright, which can be dangerous in the NFL. There is a ton of veteran competition in the Seattle backfield. If Penny isn't deemed ready, he could lose some touches.

2018 Bottom Line

Penny has an ADP of 46 overall, which is high, unless you think the Seahawks are going to give him 20 touches from Week 1 on. Most likely, he will be their No. 1 back who will be spelled by veterans during his rookie season. Owners are drafting him like a low-end RB2, but he will probably be better slotted as a flex or RB3.
