Week 3 at Detroit Lions
The Patriots have the second-highest implied team total of 30 points for Week 3. New England traded for Josh Gordon this week, but he is likely to be worked in slowly, learning the offense and recovering from a hamstring injury. Julian Edelman is still suspended. Dorsett has seven targets each of the last two games, compared to Chris Hogan's five targets in both Week 1 and 2. Dorsett has some sleeper appeal this week, but it's likely a touchdown-or-bust situation—one not to chase if Josh Gordon is active this week.
Week 2 at Jacksonville Jaguars
Phillip Dorsett looked good last week, but now he faces the toughest secondary in the league. Jacksonville was first last year in aFPA to WRs. Plus, the Patriots' implied team total is seven points lower than it generally is with Tom Brady at the helm. Fade all Patriots WRs in Week 2, as Brady will likely look to get his RBs involved with Rob Gronkowski in the passing game.
Week 1 vs. Houston Texans
Julian Edelman is suspended and Phillip Dorsett is likely to start in 2-WR sets in his place; however, he's still likely fourth or worse in the target pecking order behind Rob Gronkowski, Chris Hogan and a pass-catching RB. At 28.5 points, the Patriots are getting massive respect in Vegas to open the season, as only the Saints have a higher implied team total. Plus, the Texans' secondary ranked just 24th in aFPA to WRs last year. However, it's best to take a wait-and-see approach with a player like Dorsett, who we haven't seen fantasy success from in the past.
Super Bowl vs. Philadelphia Eagles
What matters in this different one-game format is not so much how many points we project each player for but how much each player costs per point. In FanDuel's half-point PPR format, here's how we value the wide receivers in terms of dollar/FanDuel point: Brandin Cooks>Alshon Jeffery>Nelson Agholor>Danny Amendola>Torrey Smith>Chris Hogan>Mack Hollins>Phillip Dorsett.
As for DraftKings' full PPR scoring, here's how we value the receivers in terms of dollar/DraftKings point: Brandin Cooks>Nelson Agholor>Alshon Jeffery>Danny Amendola>Torrey Smith>Chris Hogan>Mack Hollins>Phillip Dorsett.
Week 17 at Jacksonville
Dorsett is not a starting consideration Week 17 against the Jaguars. He's been far too inconsistent.
Week 16 at Oakland
Despite a long score last week, with Donte Moncrief back for the Colts, Dorsett is not a fantasy consideration in Week 16.
Week 15 at Minnesota
In Weeks 3-7 when Donte Moncrief was out, Dorsett might as well been out too with the lack of production he posted. He didn't catch more than three passes in any of those games and failed to eclipse 30 yards in three of them. Don't get cute in the fantasy playoffs, even with Donte Moncrief out against the Vikings. Dorsett is not worth starting in any fantasy leagues.
Week 14 vs. Houston
Dorsett is not being used consistently enough in the Colts offense to be worth of fantasy lineups, especially in the fantasy playoffs in Week 14.
Week 13 at New York Jets
Dorsett hasn't surpassed 60 yards or caught a touchdown since Week 4. Keep him away from your starting lineups in Week 13.
Week 12 vs. Pittsburgh
Dorsett was not a fantasy factor this season with Andrew Luck, and he certainly should not be in fantasy lineups this week with Scott Tolzien at quarterback, if Andrew Luck is out with a concussion.
