CAR RB Mike Davis - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Los Angeles Chargers

With Christian McCaffrey set to miss a few games, Mike Davis looks to be in line for a full workload. He’s shown flashes of potential at times throughout his career, but hasn’t really taken significant snaps since 2018 with the Seahawks, when he rushed for 514 yards and four touchdowns in a part-time role.

This week, Davis should get the start against a Chargers defense that looks pretty good. Los Angeles bottled up rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire last week, and held Joe Mixon to just 3.6 yards per carry in Week 1. Because of the workload, Davis is worth considering as a fringe RB2 option, but don’t get too excited about him in a tough matchup, in his first game starting in this offense.

CHI RB Mike Davis - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Washington Redskins

Mike Davis faded away from the Bears lineup in Week 2. He carried the ball just three times for one yard and had no action in the passing game. He also went from playing 56% of the snaps in Week 1 to 25% in Week 2. Unless something changes, Davis isn't worth looking at.

CHI RB Mike Davis - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Denver Broncos

Mike Davis let people remember he's still in Chicago's backfield, too. After a lot of hype for rookie David Montgomery, Davis disrupted things in Week 1 by carrying the ball five times for 19 yards (surprisingly leading the team in rushing) and catching six passes for 17 yards. Davis' seven targets and six receptions were a little surprising, and we wouldn't anticipate that high volume of work in the passing game again.

Davis draws a decent matchup in Week 2 against Denver. The Broncos allowed the 13th-most fantasy points to opposing backs in 2018, and gave up nearly 100 rushing yards to Oakland in Week 1. We like Davis as an RB3.

CHI RB Mike Davis - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Green Bay Packers

Mike Davis signed with the Bears after playing for the Seahawks last season where he finished with 728 scrimmage yards. His role in Chicago is something worth monitoring as he enters the year as the No. 2 back on the depth chart, behind Tarik Cohen, but ahead of rookie David Montgomery. We still expect Montgomery to get more looks, but Davis could disrupt things. We wouldn't suggest starting him in Week 1, but he's someone worth keeping an eye on.

SEA RB Mike Davis - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Mike Davis has 13 touches this past Sunday which was highest total since Week 10. He was very prominent in the passing game with eight receptions for 63 yards. With rookie Rashaad Penny out, Davis should get at least that many touches in Week 16 as the primary backup to Chris Carson.

Athough it is a great matchup for Davis and Seattle against KC whose defense has struggled this season, Davis should probably remain on the bench as Carson has been the workhorse and that will leave Davis numbers a little short of being an impact fantasy player.

SEA RB Mike Davis - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Carolina Panthers

With Chris Carson back in the lineup, Mike Davis only had six touches last week against Green Bay. The Seahawks will get Davis involved but they also like rookie Rashaad Penny so they are spreading out the touches between three backs.

The Seahawks face the Panthers who are 14th in aFPA to running backs. We don't expect much more from Davis with Carson the primary back. Keep Davis on the bench for Week 12 against the Panthers.

SEA RB Mike Davis - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Green Bay Packers

With a short week, Chris Carson was expected to be out again but Coach Pete Carroll announced Carson would start. So, Mike Davis will to back to his role as the backup against Green Bay. Last week as the starter, he had 15 touches for 80 yards and a receiving touchdown. However, rookie Rashaad Penny saw more snaps and had more touches than previous weeks and will probably do the same this week, taking some of those away from Carson and Davis.

The Packers are 16th in aFPA to running backs so it's a neutral matchup for Davis. Davis will get some touches but his fantasy value takes a hit from Carson returning. He still is worth playing in Week 11 as a RB3 or flex.

SEA RB Mike Davis - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Los Angeles Rams

With Chris Carson injured, Mike Davis took the bulk of the load with 22 touches for 107 yards. He is definitely capable of being a No. 1 back, and should get that opportunity this week with Carson most likely not playing.

Davis will face a Los Angeles defense that is ranked 11th in aFPA to running backs. Davis should get the touches again and that means he will put up some good numbers in Week 10. Start him as a high-end RB2 against the Rams.

SEA RB Mike Davis - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Mike Davis had 12 touches last week against Detroit, but remains the backup to Chris Carson. That should be Davis' role moving forward unless Carson is out. Carson has been limited in practice with a hip injury but is expected to play Sunday.

Davis will face a Chargers defense that is ranked 15th in aFPA to running backs. Davis should probably remain on your bench for Week 9 unless something happens to Carson before kickoff.

Friday, November 2, 2018 - 10:43am
SEA RB Mike Davis - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Detroit Lions

Mike Davis is clearly the No. 2 back and the Seahawks are treating him like one. Davis will get 10 touches per game, but that will be his limit with Chris Carson healthy. Even with a good matchup against the Lions run defense, Davis' productivity will be limited. Keep him on the bench for Week 8.
