Week 7 at Indianapolis Colts
Kareem Hunt actually saw 12 rushing attempts last week against the 49ers. Remember, this game went down to the wire. He even scored a touchdown. But he’s now dealing with a thigh injury but was able to practice this week. Perhaps his role is growing a bit. With six teams on a bye this week, Hunt moves up boards. If he gets a similar role this week against the Colts, which is certainly a much easier matchup, Hunt may have some flex value if you need a dart throw.
Week 6 vs. San Francisco 49ers
Kareem Hunt is nothing more than a spell back for Jerome Ford. He doesn’t have much juice left in the tank and doesn’t have any reason being in your lineup this week, or really at all.
Week 17 at Washington Commanders
For the second time in three weeks, Kareem Hunt posted a yards-per-carry mark of 1.5 or less. He also hasn't seen double-digit rushing attempts since Halloween and has only two games with at least 10 touches in that same timeframe. Hunt is not someone you're trusting in the fantasy finals.
Week 16 vs. New Orleans Saints
Kareem Hunt has seen his role trimmed to a minimum in Cleveland. He had just five touches last week against the Ravens. Not what you want to rely on in the fantasy playoffs. There's no reason to start Hunt at this point.
Week 15 vs. Baltimore Ravens
Kareem Hunt's fantasy days in Cleveland appear to be over. He hasn't broken double digits in fantasy points since Halloween and had his lowest output since Week 7, which just also happened to be against the Ravens. At this point, Hunt is not a worthy fantasy play, which was almost unprecedented to think going into the season.
Week 14 at Cincinnati Bengals
Kareem Hunt's 9 carries last week against the Texans were his most since the Browns returned from their bye week in Week 10. He also posted his highest rushing total since Week 2 with 56 yards. However, he just missed a double-digit fantasy day and hasn't had one since Week 8...which happens to be the team Hunt faces this week, the Bengals. But as Deshaun Watson shakes off the rust, you wonder if that will mean the work comes at Hunt's expense. Hunt is a flex option, at best, with six teams on a bye this week. And now isn't the time to get cute in fantasy.
Week 13 at Houston Texans
It's becoming safe to say that Kareem Hunt has become a near-afterthought in the Browns offense. He has seen double-digit carries just once in his last six games after starting the season with five such games. And with Deshaun Watson now in the lineup, how Hunt's looks in the offense get affected will be very interesting to watch. At this point, Hunt is better off on your bench moving forward.
Week 12 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Kareem Hunt actually out-rushed Nick Chubb against the Bills. Of course, that's not saying much when Chubb rushed for just 19 yards and Hunt ended up with 32. He did add two catches for 22 yards. The bottom line is Hunt continues to take a backseat in the Browns' offense and has become touchdown-dependant for fantasy purposes. Against the Buccaneers and with every team playing this week, that's a tough gamble, especially if you're fighting for a playoff position.
Week 11 vs. Buffalo Bills in Detroit
Kareem Hunt has almost become somewhat of an afterthought in the Cleveland offense. Last week against the Dolphins, Hunt totaled just 19 yards on seven touches. He has one double-digit fantasy day in his last four games and just two since his big season-opening performance. And he gets Buffalo this week? No thanks on Hunt this week.
Week 10 at Miami Dolphins
Kareem Hunt saw double-digit carries in Week 8, the first time in three games. Perhaps that was a way to make him happy before the trade deadline, in which the Browns ultimately kept Hunt. Week 10 brings a tough matchup for the Browns and Hunt remains in the backseat to Nick Chubb. Hunt is a bit of a gamble, even as a flex option.
