WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Dallas Cowboys

J.D. McKissic has a chance to return this week after suffering a concussion in Week 12. He looked great before his injury, scoring two touchdowns along with 56 scrimmage yards on just 39% of the offensive snaps. He's trending towards playing, but his health is worth monitoring this week. Even if he does return, he'll get a tough matchup vs. the Cowboys. Dallas has given up the ninth-fewest receiving yards and just one receiving touchdown to running backs this year. McKissic will be a lower-end RB3 or flex play in Week 14, assuming he plays.

WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Seattle Seahawks

J.D. McKissic ran the ball seven times for 45 yards last week and somewhat surprisingly saw just two targets, catching one pass for four yards. Although we did mention last week that Carolina has been tough on receiving backs. Things get easier this week against the Seahawks, who have allowed the most receiving yards to running backs so far this year. McKissic still played his usual amount last week (46% of the offensive snaps), he just happened to not have a strong game. With a better matchup, we'd expect higher production from him in Week 12. He should be viewed as a solid flex option in PPR formats, and a weaker flex option in standard leagues.

WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Carolina Panthers

Antonio Gibson was able to play more snaps in Week 11, which meant fewer snaps for J.D. McKissic. The game flow also played into Gibson's favor as Washington didn't find itself needing to pass as often. As a result, McKissic played below 40% of the offensive snaps for just the second time this season. He was still somewhat productive, though, finishing 4-35 on four targets while adding four yards on two carries. McKissic could struggle this week though as he faces a Panthers team that has shut down receiving backs. Carolina has allowed the third-fewest receiving yards and the seventh-fewest receptions to running backs this year. McKissic should be viewed as an RB3 this week against Carolina.

WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

J.D. McKissic led all Washington backs in playing time in Week 8, and had the production to show for it. The receiving specialist hauled in all eight of his targets for 83 yards, and added 10 more yards on three carries. McKissic has benefitted from game flow, and a bothersome shin injury to Antonio Gibson this season. He could be in line for another productive game this week as he faces a Bucs defense that's allowed the sixth-most receptions to running backs this season. McKissic is almost a better play than Gibson in PPR formats this week. He should be viewed as a low-end RB2 or a strong flex play in Week 10.

WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Denver Broncos

J.D. McKissic had an OK game last week, finishing with 56 scrimmage yards. McKissic has benefitted from the recent game flows for Washington as he's played at least 60% of the offensive snaps in back-to-back games, his only two games hitting that mark this season. McKissic is a tough player to gauge in fantasy because his role is pretty dependent on Washington being down and needing to pass. He doesn't score many touchdowns, and doesn't run often. He could struggle to get much going this week as he faces a Broncos defense that's allowed the third-fewest receptions and third-fewest receiving yards to running backs this season. McKissic has some appeal as a flex play in PPR formats in Week 8.

WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Green Bay Packers

J.D. McKissic saw increased playing time last week, partly due to Antonio Gibson's injury. McKissic played a season-high 61% of the offensive snaps, and had a productive game finishing 8-65 on 10 targets. He also carried the ball eight times for 45 yards, meaning he had 110 scrimmage yards. While Gibson's injury played a role, the game flow of Washington falling behind late also contributed as McKissic plays on passing downs. With Gibson's shin injury bothering him, we could see McKissic having another game with an increased snap count. He could be a sneaky RB3/flex play in PPR formats this week, especially against the Packers. Green Bay has allowed the 12th-most receptions to running backs this season.

WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

J.D. McKissic had a tough outing last week, rushing twice for -1 yard and catching just one pass for eight yards (on four targets). Last season, McKissic was pretty much gold every week for PPR formats, but this year has been more matchup and game-flow-based. He gets a good matchup this week against the Chiefs in what could be an offensive shootout.

The Chiefs have given up the sixth-most receiving yards to running backs this season, so McKissic has a better chance at production this week. Still, he's a difficult back to trust given his up-and-down production. He should be viewed as a low-end flex play in PPR formats.

WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. New Orleans Saints

J.D. McKissic finished with a season-high 12 touches last week as he carried the ball a surprising seven times. Although he wasn't productive on the ground, ending with just 15 yards. He was productive as a receiver, though, finishing 5-44-1 on five targets. His increase in carries could be due to Antonio Gibson's shin injury, although his playing time remained mostly the same. McKissic could be in for a decent game this week against the Saints. While New Orleans has been tough to running backs on the ground (giving up the third-fewest rushing yards), the Saints have been more lenient to running backs through the air, where McKissic shines. Still, he's not much more than a low-end flex play in PPR formats this week.

WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Atlanta Falcons

Washington was playing from behind for most of the game in Week 3, which you think would be good for receiving threat J.D. McKissic, but he had a modest game with 38 scrimmage yards. McKissic had just two targets, finishing 2-15 as a receiver, adding 23 yards on three carries. He was still heavily involved, seeing a season-high 46% of the offensive snaps, but the production wasn't there. McKissic looked good in Week 2, but his production has been unstable so far. He'll be a risky flex option in PPR formats against the Falcons in Week 4.

WAS RB J.D. McKissic - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Buffalo Bills

J.D. McKissic had just one touch in Week 1, making fantasy owners wonder if 2020 was just a one-year marvel for the back. But McKissic made a huge splash in Week 2, finishing 5-83 as a receiver, and stealing a goal-line touchdown. That's a huge variance, meaning a lot of McKissic's production will be related to the flow of the game overall. He could have a hard time doing a whole lot this week against the Bills. So far this season, Buffalo's only given up five receptions for 25 yards to running backs. McKissic will be a boom-or-bust flex play in Week 3.
