Week 16 at Raiders
Even though Courtland Sutton has run the most routes (155) on the Denver Broncos, and has the most AirYards (404) he's only gained 82 yards in the past five games. Sutton simply can't be in lineups this week even with all the surrounding COVID issues.
Week 15 vs Bengals
Step 1: Bench Courtland Sutton.
Step 2: Cut Courtland Sutton.
On a serious note, Sutton shouldn't be anywhere near lineups for the first round of the fantasy playoffs this week. In his last five games combined, he has 79 receiving yards total for a total of 17.9 PPR points. We can't depend on that type of production this week.
Week 14 vs Lions
What are we doing here? Courtland Sutton should be on your waiver wires and not in your starting lineup. Since Jerry Jeudy came back in Week 8, Sutton is averaging 3 targets a game for 22 yards a game with zero touchdowns.
Week 13 at Chiefs
If you have another WR option, I suggest playing him. In the five games Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton have played together this year, this is what Sutton has averaged:
3 targets, 1.6 receptions, 21.8 receiving yards, 0 TDs. Those are not numbers you want in your lineup and if you have a better option, I'd implore playing him. To make matters worse, the Kansas City Chiefs pass defense has been a top ten defense according to our adjusted fantasy points allowed tool.
Week 12 vs Chargers
Courtland Sutton has only seen 14 targets in his last four games combined. That’s as many targets as he saw in Week 7 alone. You can’t be confident in starting him with such a low target share, but against a Chargers defense that gives up a lot of yards via the air, Sutton could return a flex play value.
Week 10 vs Eagles
Courtland Sutton seems to only do well with Jerry Jeudy out of the lineup. With Jeudy back in the lineup last week, Sutton only saw TWO targets. With Jeudy out of the lineup, Sutton averages 9.2 targets/G, without Jeudy, he averages 3 targets a game. I know it's hard to sit Sutton but until we see more production, it doesn't seem smart to play him in a game where the run game is set up to flourish.
Week 9 at Cowboys
Courtland Sutton led the team in targets last week even with Jerry Jeudy back in the lineup, the biggest difference is Suttons strangle hold on the market share AirYards leading the team at 33% while Jeudy and Tim Patrick are only seeing below 25%. Sutton should have another solid game, especially if the Dallas Cowboys get out to a quick lead.
Week 8 vs Football Team
This will be the first week that Jerry Jeudy is eligible to play. In Week 1 when Jeudy was active, Sutton only saw three targets coincidentally his lowest targets total all year. We don't know if Sutton and Jeudy can co-exist but we can take advantage of this Football Teams weak point which is its pass defense. The good news is that Sutton is currently second in the NFL in air yards per game at 135.1 yards a game.
Week 7 at Browns
Courtland Sutton continues his hot play. After turning in back-to-back weeks of 11 or more targets with 90 or more yards, Sutton takes on a Clevland Browns defense that is getting torched by the opposing team WR1s. Currently giving up the second to most yards (101.0) to the opposing team's WR1, Sutton is in line for another boom game, so fire him up and don't look back.
Week 6 vs Raiders
Welcome back to the NFL season Courtland Sutton. After posting 84 yards in the past two weeks combined, Sutton exploded for 120 yards and earned 11 targets, both team leaders. This week presents a tougher matchup according to our adjusted fantasy points allowed, but I wouldn't bench Sutton's talent, he has the ability to win you weeks.
