NO RB Alvin Kamara - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs Raiders

Kamara was rather quiet rushing the football Sunday, going for just 16 yards on 12 carries, being outrushed by Latavius Murray. His day was saved by 51 receiving yards on five catches and two total touchdowns and had a third touchdown called back. So in the end, he still outtouched Murray, 17-15.

His days are likely going to get better as he is going to have to help carry the offense in the wake of Michael Thomas's injury. He also has to like watching Christian McCaffrey beat up the Raiders defense in Week 1. Don't sweat Kamara. He'll be just fine. He's our RB3 this week.

NO RB Alvin Kamara - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

With his contract issues all but behind him, Alvin Kamara can move all his attention to a Buccaneers team that has been very strong up front and actually ranked as the best defense against opposing fantasy running backs in 2019. Kamara did crack 100 total yards in both games last season but has not scored against Tampa since Week 1 of 2018. With the new contract, you have to think New Orleans will feed Kamara plenty to help keep him happy. He sits as our No. 7 running back so there shouldn't be much decision on him. He's ready to go and ready to lead your fantasy team on a championship run.

NO RB Alvin Kamara - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Alvin Kamara is still a stud fantasy running back as long as he is lining up in the Saints' backfield. Even with Latavius Murray around, Kamara still commands a good chunk of the workload in the backfield. Despite his lack of touchdowns in 2019, he was still a top-12 running back thanks to his ability to catch passes. New Orleans also kept almost their entire offensive line from 2019 with the exception of Larry Warford. But they drafted Cesar Ruiz in the first round. Kamara is going to have plenty of room to work with again in 2020.

Fantasy Downside

We likely saw the main downside of Kamara in 2019 when he found the end zone just twice in the first 15 weeks of the season before finishing with back-to-back two-score games in Weeks 16 and 17. He can't have that kind of drought again in 2020, can he?

2020 Bottom Line

Kamara is a safe bet again as a first-round pick in your drafts. Last year showed the Saints can work Murray into the offense while still strongly feeding Kamara. If he can land in the top 12 backs with just six total touchdowns in 2019, he certainly can build on that in 2020.

NO RB Alvin Kamara - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Panthers

Alvin Kamara finally remembered what it was like to score a touchdown. In fact, it was so nice, he did it twice against the Titans. And with the Saints still fighting for a bye in Week 17, Kamara gets a chance at a Panthers defense that was just chewed up and spit out by the Colts' running backs. Kamara has a chance to do something he hasn't done all season: score in back-to-back games.

NO RB Alvin Kamara - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Titans

You can certainly make the argument that Alvin Kamara was a fantasy disappointment, only because of how high he was drafted this summer and only scoring twice all season. But he still gets you a handful of catches and a chance at almost 100 total yards. If you stuck with Kamara this far, you may get rewarded in the finals. Tennessee is a bottom-ten team in fantasy points allowed to running backs. Kamara may not win you a championship, but he can put you in position to win one.

NO RB Alvin Kamara - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs Colts

Even with the offensive explosion from the Saints, Alvin Kamara was kept very quiet against the 49ers. It was his first game under 50 total yards and he still hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 3. Latavius Murray has shown he deserves to be more involved in the offense. That being said, the upside in the passing game is still there and Kamara is still ranked in the top ten in PPR scoring. If you've gotten this far with Kamara, you might as well roll with him to the finish.

NO RB Alvin Kamara - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs 49ers

It's fair to say Kamara was a minor disappointment this fantasy season. He hasn't rushed for 100 yards in a game yet this season. Being involved in the passing game has definitely helped, but he only hauled in four passes last week and again was held out of the end zone. And now he gets the 49ers, who are allowing the fewest points to opposing running backs in fantasy. The receptions will be there, but the team's plan for Kamara is clear now. Rush him about 12 times and throw the ball to him about eight times. He's still a good play because of the targets, but you're really hoping he finally breaks his touchdown drought.

NO RB Alvin Kamara - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Falcons

The Saints heavily favored the pass against the Panthers, as Kamara saw 11 carries and was actually outgained on the ground by Latavius Murray. But as always, Kamara’s fantasy day was saved by nine catches. While that’s all well and good, Kamara still hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 3. He’s well due for a touchdown, and while he may not be an elite RB1, his catches keep him as a sure-fire RB2/low-end RB1.

NO RB Alvin Kamara - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs Panthers

Kamara got right back on his usual routine against the Buccaneers, carrying 13 times and seeing 10 targets against the Buccaneers. Fortunately, he is catching all these passes as he still has just two touchdowns this season, both coming all the way back in Week 3, That said, Carolina sports one of the worst rushing defenses in the league so if there is a week for Kamara to finally find the end zone, this is the week.

NO RB Alvin Kamara - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Buccaneers
Kamara returned to the lineup last week against the Falcons and was slid right back in as a featured target in the passing game with ten targets and eight receptions for 50 yards. His fantasy owners needed those in PPR formats as he rushed just four times for 24 yards. Despite those numbers, he still saw nearly 80 percent of the offensive snaps. His usage shouldn't be an issue going forward and he should get back to his usual 13-17 carries in the run game.

Be warned, though, as the Buccaneers are allowing the fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. However, Kamara did have 104 total yards and six receptions in the Week 5 meeting.
