Scouting report

PHI RB Kenneth Gainwell - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Minnesota Vikings
The question on how the Eagles would use their running backs was answered for at least one week. Kenneth Gainwell had 18 touches for 74 yards. No other Eagles back had more than two touches. Keep an eye on his health status. He has a rib issue and didn't practice Tuesday. With the short week, he could be held out considering Philly has depth at the position.

If Gainwell is a go, he has a good matchup against an average Vikings run defense. Start him as a high-end RB3 or Flex for Week 2. It appears after one game, he will be the primary back, but that could change at any time.

PHI RB Kenneth Gainwell - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at New England Patriots
Kenneth Gainwell returns for his third season and he is pretty much in the same spot as someone who will share time with two other backs. Gainwell did not rush for 300 yards in either of his first two seasons and that's mostly because of touches. Where he has had a positive is touchdowns as he has had nine total in his first two seasons.

Gainwell is a bench player for Week 1. He could end up being a fantasy asset as the season goes on but there are a lot of unknowns and that means he is a wait and see.

PHI RB Kenneth Gainwell - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. New Orleans Saints
Kenneth Gainwell had his best game of the season with eight touches for 58 yards. He was especially effective in the passing game and that should continue as Miles Sanders has not been a factor in that phase of the game.

Although the production was intriguing, Gainwell has not been a fantasy factor all season and that will probably not change enough to warrant a start any time soon.

PHI RB Kenneth Gainwell - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at New York Giants
Kenneth Gainwell had only six touches but it produced 53 total yards thanks to his involvement in the passing game. He is only playing about 25% of the snaps but still sees the ball.

Gainwell should be on your fantasy radar, especially in PPR leagues, but for Week 14, he should remain on the bench against the Giants who have an average run defense.

PHI RB Kenneth Gainwell - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Tennessee Titans
Kenneth Gainwell had a season-high nine touches last week that produced 36 yards. The amount of touches was surprising considering starter Miles Sanders played the whole game and also was very productive.

Gainwell faces a very good Tennessee run defense, and even if he can get a similar amount of touches, there isn't enough there to warrant a start or even be a waiver wire pickup at this point.

PHI RB Kenneth Gainwell - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Washington
The Eagles continue to run the ball and Kenneth Gainwell will be in that mix like he was against the Jets before the bye week. He rushed the ball 12 times for 54 yards and a touchdown in that game. He will be Miles Sanders' primary backup so the 10+ touches are in play.

The matchup is tough against Washington but we don't know how COVID-19 will affect them. So, even though Philly could have a big running day again, there are some questions. Keep Gainwell on the bench for Week 15.

PHI RB Kenneth Gainwell - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Denver
A couple weeks ago Kenneth Gainwell looked like he would be the main guy with Miles Sanders going down. But he only had two carries for 3 yards as he was No. 3 on the usage list behind Jordan Howard and Boston Scott.

The Eagles face the Broncos who are ranked 8th in aFPA to running backs. The tough matchup and what happened last week brings down Gainwell's fantasy stock for Week 10.
