IND RB Trent Richardson - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Trent Richardson - Week 12 vs. Jacksonville

With Ahmad Bradshaw sent to injured reserve, the Colts will turn to Trent Richardson. We’ve seen this story before (last season) and it didn’t play out very well. But give Richardson a little bit of credit. He’s been much improved this season compared to last. His biggest hurdle is not scoring touchdowns (just two this season and four total last season). Before he left, Bradshaw scored eight touchdowns with the Colts. Will those numbers go to Richardson now? Maybe.

We’ll at least get to see Richardson in a favorable matchup this week. The Jaguars have allowed at least 150 rushing yards and a touchdown to backs in each of the last two games. If Richardson can’t get it done against Jacksonville then we know what to expect from him the rest of the season.

As it stands, Richardson appears to be a good play this week. He’s a borderline RB1 and strong RB2, based soley on situation and expected workload.

IND RB Trent Richardson - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Trent Richardson - Week 11 vs. New England

Before the Colts' bye week the team decided to go very pass heavy against the New York Giants. Trent Richardson suffered because of it. He finished with just 33 yards on seven carries and nine more yards on two receptions. Not exactly a stellar option.

Usually Richardson gets to touch the ball more than that and he comes through with a mediocre performance. He'll get a great matchup against New England this week and should be viewed as a RB2.

IND RB Trent Richardson - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Trent Richardson - Week 9 vs. New York Giants

Trent Richardson was officially listed as active last week, but he didn't play a single snap. He was more of an emergency back behind Ahmad Bradshaw and Dan "Boom" Herron. TRich should be back in his usual role on Monday night this week as he was in practice on Thursday.

The last time Richardson played (Week 7) he had his best game as a Colt in terms of total yardage and yards per carry. He'll hope to continue that production this week in a favorable matchup against the New York Giants.

Bradshaw is the much better option in terms of Colts running backs, but Richardson has been fairly valuable this year. He's a decent flex play in both standard and PPR formats.

IND RB Trent Richardson - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Trent Richardson - Week 8 vs. Pittsburgh

Trent Richardson finished with 118 total yards last week against Cincinnati. It's his highest yardage total as a Colt and his highest since Week 11 of his rookie year in 2012 when he was in Cleveland. He ran the ball 14 times for 77 yards, an average of 5.5 yards per carry. His 5.5 ypc is his highest since joining the Colts.

Is this a sign of things to come? Probably not. But is it encouraging for the few TRich enthusiasts out there? Yes. Despite your feelings towards Richardson's abilities, he's still a big factor in the Colts' offense. He'll get a favorable matchup this week against Pittsburgh and should be viewed as a low RB2 or a solid RB3.

It should be noted Richardson missed practice Wednesday and Thursday due to a sore hamstring. Dan Herron would get a significant amount of snaps if T-Rich can’t play.

IND RB Trent Richardson - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Trent Richardson - Week 7 vs. Cincinnati

Trent Richardson scored a touchdown last week, but that's about the only thing that went right for him. He rushed 17 times for 41 yards (2.4 ypc) and didn't record a catch. Usually, TRich's numbers in the passing game make up for his lack of rushing yards.

He'll get a fairly difficult matchup this week against the Bengals. Outside of Week 5 against New England, Cincinnati is allowing 73 rushing yards per game.

Richardson will continue to get touches and has two touchdowns in the last three games. For that reason he's still viewed as a low RB2 or RB3.

IND RB Trent Richardson - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Trent Richardson - Week 6 vs. Houston

Trent Richardson had his second single-digit rushing attempt game of the season last week. He carried the ball just nine times for 37 yards and added only 10 yards receiving. His fellow RB Ahmad Bradshaw had more rushing attempts and yards than him. Richardson has been the second best option in the Colts backfield for a while now.

He'll likely see more than nine carries this week, but he still isn't a great option. He gets a decent matchup against Houston, but should be viewed as a flex option at best.

IND RB Trent Richardson - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Trent Richardson - Week 5 vs. Baltimore

Trent Richardson looked like the Trent Richardson we know and love in Week 4. He ran the ball 20 times for just 47 yards (2.4 ypc). He did manage to gain 52 yards on four receptions through the air, and scored on the ground. It was easily his best performance of the season.

Don't expect good things from Richardson again this week. He faces a tough Ravens defense that has held running backs under 100 yards in every game this year. Baltimore also hasn't allowed a touchdown to RBs in three out of its four games. Even more impressive, the Ravens' run defense has held opponents to 3.3 yards per carry - a number TRich aspires to reach.

Teammate Ahmad Bradshaw is the better fantasy option in the Colts' backfield. Richardson is still getting plenty of touches, but he's not doing much with it making him a RB3.
