Scouting report

ATL RB Todd Gurley - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs Lions

For how explosive Atlanta's offense was against the Vikings, Gurley was rather quiet. He saw 23 touches but only gained 67 yards. Week 7 could be a get-right game for Gurley. Detroit is allowing the fourth-most rushing yards per game and has allowed seven touchdowns on the ground this season. And the last time Gurley faced the Lions, he pounced to the tune of 138 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Rams clinch the NFC West in 2018.

ATL RB Todd Gurley - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Vikings

Gurley continued the new unwritten rule of "Start running backs against the Panthers" with his first 100-yard game as a Falcons. The Vikings aren't a terrible matchup and Gurley has scored in three straight games. He's currently a solid top-15 option at running back.

ATL RB Todd Gurley - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs Panthers

Gurley was one of the lone bright spots for the Falcons on Monday against the Packers with his two rushing touchdowns. But through four weeks, we're getting a sense of how Atlanta is using Gurley. About 15-20 carries and very minimal work in the passing game. That's still good RB2 value, but not much more. Fortunately for Gurley, Carolina is still having issues defending the run, though they did hold Kenyan Drake to just 35 rushing yards in Week 4. Kyler Murray did most of the damage for the Cardinals. Gurley is No. 18 in half-PPR for running backs this week.

ATL RB Todd Gurley - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs Packers

Another solid day on the ground for Gurley, his best in fact of 2020, as he rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown. But the Falcons just aren't throwing the football much to their running backs, in particular, Gurley. After seeing five passing targets in Week 1, Gurley has seen just two since, both coming in Week 3 against the Bears. He'll still get you work in the ground game, helping him stick as an RB2 against a Packers run defense that, while they have only had 63 rush attempts against them (second-fewest), are allowing 5.5 yards per carry (fourth-highest).

ATL RB Todd Gurley - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Bears

It's been a slow start for Gurley, averaging just 58.5 yards per game on the ground and has just two catches. In fact, he has only played about half of the total offensive snaps for Atlanta through two weeks. He's hoping to have a game against the Bears like he did last season in Week 11 (133 total yards, 1 touchdown). And it's not like Gurley hasn't been getting the carries in the group. Brian Hill and Ito Smith only have six carries each so far. The yards should come with the continued opportunity, though the Falcons will be without RT Kaleb McGary (MCL sprain) in Week 3. The Bears are allowing 4.5 yards per carry through two weeks.

ATL RB Todd Gurley - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs Cowboys

It was a solid first game as a Falcon for Todd Gurley, rushing for 56 yards and a touchdown. The game script caused his usage to be capped but Week 2 could be a better outcome. Malcolm Brown scored twice and had 79 rushing yards against Dallas in Week 1 and Dallas now is without Leighton Vander Esch. He's a solid RB2 again this week, as we have him slotted as RB17.

ATL RB Todd Gurley - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Todd Gurley makes his Falcons debut this week against a team he is certainly quite familiar with, having been in the NFC West with the Rams. And he has had success against the Seahawks, particularly in the last two seasons. He's rushed for at least 50 yards (including 120-yards in Week 10 of 2018) in each of the last four games versus Seattle and scored in every game (7 total rushing touchdowns). The Falcons are sure to make their new friend feel right at home in Week 1.
