Scouting report

NO RB Tim Hightower - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Atlanta
Tim Hightower rushed eight times for just 29 yards in the Saints' Week 16 win over the Buccaneers. After vulturing a pair of touchdowns from Mark Ingram last week, Hightower watched as Ingram scored from six and 14 yards out this time around. Ranked as our RB48 for Week 17, Hightower will be a touchdown-dependent fantasy play when the Saints visit the Falcons on Sunday. Ingram remains the back to own in New Orleans.

NO RB Tim Hightower - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Tampa Bay
Tim Hightower rushed 11 times for 37 yards and two touchdowns while catching all three of his targets for an additional 11 yards in the Saints' Week 15 win over the Cardinals. Hightower was handed two goal-line opportunities despite Mark Ingram emerging once again as the more effective back. Ingram was visibly upset on the sidelines after Hightower's second score. Nevertheless, Ingram is still the back to own in New Orleans, which will host the Bucs on Saturday. Hightower ranks as our RB36 and will be a touchdown-dependent FLEX option for Week 16.

NO RB Tim Hightower - Week 15, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Arizona
Tim Hightower rushed six times for 31 yards while adding one catch for an additional eight yards in the Saints' loss to the Bucs in Week 14. It was a disastrous performance by Drew Brees and the entire New Orleans offense, which had to earn every inch against a resurgent Tampa Bay defense. Hightower drew one less touch than Mark Ingram, but out-gained by 31-23. On Sunday the Saints will visit the Cardinals, who rank No. 3 against fantasy running backs. With Hightower ranked as our RB34 and Ingram ranked as our RB26, neither running back is recommended in Week 15.

NO RB Tim Hightower - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Tampa Bay
Tim Hightower rushed two times for five yards while adding a four-yard reception in the Saints' Week 13 loss to the Lions. Mark Ingram missed a series or two after re-aggravating his toe injury but Hightower did nothing to spark the Saints' offense. (The Lions also made things difficult on New Orleans while playing dominant defense and ball-control offense.) Ingram missed practice on Thursday but is expected to play Sunday when the Saints visit the Bucs. For now, Hightower ranks as our RB40 for Week 14. If Ingram doesn't play, then Hightower will be a risky RB3 against a Tampa Bay defense that is playing its best football of the season.

NO RB Tim Hightower - Week 13, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Detroit
Tim Hightower rushed for 51 yards on 15 carries while adding two catches for 54 yards and a touchdown in the Saints’ Week 12 win over the Rams. The touchdown came on a 50-yard flea-flicker thrown by wide receiver Willie Snead when Sean Payton was trying to run up the score on his former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Hightower finished with two more touches than Mark Ingram, but Ingram played 17 more snaps (42-to-25). Ingram is also dealing with a toe injury that kept him out of practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. If he can’t play, Hightower would have instant appeal as a RB2. For now, Ingram ranks as our RB15 and Hightower is our RB27, making him a risky FLEX option of Ingram is active.

NO RB Tim Hightower - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Los Angeles
Tim Hightower rushed 12 times for 69 yards while catching eight-of-nine targets for 57 additional yards in the Saints' Week 11 loss to the Panthers. Hightower saw extra touches in the second half after Mark Ingram was forced out of the game due to a concussion. He continues to see plenty of work to be a viable RB3, including this Sunday when the Saints host the Rams. The problem for this weekend is that Los Angeles owns the No. 3 defense against fantasy running backs this season so while Hightower is a FLEX option, he's a risky play. He currently ranks as our RB30 for Week 12.

NO RB Tim Hightower Week 11, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Carolina
Working in a timeshare with Mark Ingram for a second straight week, Tim Hightower rushed eight times for 21 yards while adding two catches for an additional 34 yards in the Saints' Week 10 loss to the Broncos. Ingram got the start but only out-touched Hightower by a 13-10 count. Sean Payton is likely to stick with the timeshare this Thursday when the Saints travel to Carolina to take on the Panthers, who rank as fantasy's No. 4 defense versus running backs. Hightower is our RB37 for Week 11 and should be avoided in all formats.
