Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said quarterback John Beck will start on Friday against Indianapolist. The coach said Beck is 100 percent and that he was pleased with his play today.

Beck took the first-team snaps during the opening round of 11-on-11 work in practice. Rex Grossman took the first-team snaps later in practice. Beck worked with the first team again during the timed down and distance drills.

Redskins QB John Beck sat out Friday’s win over Pittsburgh in which Rex Grossman completed 19 of 26 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown.

“One side of me was really thrilled for our guys because all the hard work we did during training camp paid off,” he said, “but I would have loved to have been out there and been a part of it.”

Coach Mike Shanahan said he would determine Wednesday how to divide the quarterback’s playing time against Indianapolis.

After being held out of all team drills during last week’s practices because of a groin injury, Washington Redskins quarterback John Beck returned at full capacity on Sunday.

Beck took all of the first-team snaps early in practice and is hoping to start Friday at Indianapolis. Rex Grossman took first-team snaps during the second portion of 11-on-11 drills.

Washington head coach Mike Shanahan said the quarterback didn’t appear to have any limitations, and Beck said he felt good.

Washington Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman completed 19 of 26 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown to help the Washington Redskins beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 16-7 on Friday night in the preseason opener for both teams.

Hoping to gain over early edge over an injured John Beck for the starting job, Grossman hit Santana Moss for an 8-yard score in the second quarter - although the drive came against Pittsburgh’s second-string defense.

Beck did not play. He sat out after tweaking his groin in practice last week.

While the Redskins’ starters played the entire first half, Pittsburgh’s first-stringers were done for the game by the end of the first quarter. Backup Isaac Redman had a 22-yard touchdown run for the Steelers.

Fantasy Impact:

You don't want Grossman or Beck on your team, but Grossman is probably the lesser of two evils if you have Santana Moss on your team.
