Redskins Quarterback Rex Grossman is listed first, followed by John Beck. Not a surprise considering Beck has been slowed the last few days by a groin injury.

Fantasy Impact: 

Not that we are suggesting to rush to your waiver wire and pick-up either of these two signal callers, but this situation should be monitored as direct impact to WRs and TEs.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said he never announced John Beck as his starting quarterback:

“First of all, I’ve never mentioned a starter,” Shanahan replied, which is true. “I’ve never even insinuated a starter. I said I had a lot of belief in John Beck, I had a lot of belief in Rex Grossman. We’re gonna play the best player at the end of camp, but I do believe in both those guys. I’ve watched them practice. You make decisions based on practice. I’ve watched both these guys for a year, I like what they bring to the table. Now I get a chance to watch them compete on a day-to-day basis.)”

A day off wasn’t enough for quarterback John Beck’s injured groin to fully heal. He sat out team drills during the Redskins’ practice on Monday morning, and his status for Friday’s preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers is in doubt.

“It’d be nice if it didn’t happen, but now it’s just make sure it doesn’t get worse,” Beck said after practice. “That’s the big thing.”

Beck’s injury isn’t believed to be serious, and whether he can fully participate in practice is being evaluated on a daily basis. Still, it temporarily saps some of the intrigue from his competition for the starting job against Rex Grossman.

Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan says QB Rex Grossman will be arriving tonight.

Fantasy Impact: 

Grossman will probably be the team's starter, but before we all laugh, he actually posted some decent fantasy numbers in his three starts to close out the season. Two of the games he threw for over 300 yards and had seven TDs to four interceptions.

That's not to say you should target Grossman in your draft. He doesn't have an ADP, but maybe he's a guy you track once your season starts if you get in QB trouble. It helps the Redskins brought back WR Santana Moss, because the two connected for 22 catches, 231 and 2 TDs in Grossman's three starts.
