MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. New York Jets

Myles Gaskin's role has been pretty well defined by this point, but he received a boost last week when the Dolphins made Jordan Howard a healthy scratch. As a result, Gaskin finally scored his first touchdown of the season, while finishing with 21 total touches for 91 scrimmage yards. He gets a great matchup against the Jets in Week 6 (29th in aFPA), and should be viewed as a strong RB2 play.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at San Francisco 49ers

Myles Gaskin led the Dolphins' backfield in touches and snaps again last week, finishing 62 scrimmage yards. Gaskin still has no touchdowns on the season, but he's been a solid flex play in PPR formats so far. Gaskin has topped 60 scrimmage yards in every game, and is averaging 4.5 receptions per game. He gets a difficult matchup this week against the 49ers, who have allowed the fourth-fewest rushing yards and fourth-fewest receiving yards to running backs this season. The 49ers have also given up just two scores to backs through four games. Gaskin should be viewed as an RB3 or flex play in Week 5.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Myles Gaskin has easily taken over the starting job in this backfield, with double the amount of carries of any other back on this roster this season. Gaskin had 27 touches in Week 3, including five receptions for 29 yards. He still has not scored a touchdown, however, as Jordan Howard has been a goal line vulture this season. He gets an interesting matchup this week against the Seahawks. Seattle has allowed the second-fewest rushing yards to backs this season, but that's partly due to their pass defense being historically bad. Gaskin isn't a dominant back, but he's productive enough to be in RB3/flex range this week against Seattle.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Jaguars

It turns out Week 1 wasn't a fluke and Myles Gaskin once again led the Dolphins in touches in Week 2. He's had back-to-back double digit games in PPR leagues as he's emerged as a solid receiving threat out of the backfield, finishing with six receptions off seven targets last week. Unfortunately for Gaskin, Jordan Howard has a strong hold on goal line carries and Matt Breida is being used just enough to limit Gaskin's ceiling. Still, he's turned into a decent flex play in PPR formats. He gets a favorable matchup against the Jaguars in Week 3, who have allowed the third-most receptions and fourth-most receiving yards to running backs this season.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Buffalo Bills

Last week we said it'd probably be best to avoid the Dolphins' backfield in fantasy. That turned out to be good advice because despite bringing in Jordan Howard and Matt Breida in free agency, the Dolphins ended up using Myles Gaskin in Week 1. Gaskin led the backfield in snap counts (63%), rushing attempts (9) and scrimmage yards (66). His playing time over Howard and Breida really stood out (63% compared to 15% and 23%, respectively) from the game. If Gaskin continues to get this usage, he could be a sneaky RB3 play in PPR formats. He'll draw a mid-range matchup against the Bills in Week 2.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Myles Gaskin played a season-high 48% of the offensive snaps last week, tying Patrick Laird for the lead. He ran nine times for 43 yards while catching two-of-three targets for 29 yards. His role is increasing, but no Miami back has had success this season. He gets a favorable matchup against the Bengals this week, but he's a hard player to trust since he's only really had one game of fantasy value all season. He should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation flex play.

MIA RB Myles Gaskin - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at New York Jets

Myles Gaskin should see more opportunities with Kalen Ballage out, but he had just three touches last week. We'd expect Patrick Laird to get the majority of the touches moving forward. So unless something changes, don't play Gaskin this week.
