Scouting report

by Scott Pagel

WAS RB Keith Marshall - 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
With the departure of Alfred Morris, Keith Marshall has a chance to be a "next-in-line" guy for the Redskins RB1 job. Marshall is said to have great vision and breakaway speed to go along with toughness in his running style. In fact, he had a 4.31 time in the 40 at the Scouting Combine. He seems to be a guy who can handle double-digit carries in a game if needed. While he didn't see a lot of passes, he's said to have good enough hands for receiving.

Fantasy Downside
The big deal with Marshall is he just hasn't been able to stay healthy. While another knock on him is he's hesitant to hit holes, it could very well be due to a lack of time on the field. As a result, he's been labeled inconsistent. Of course, Marshall will at least be behind Matt Jones as the team's RB1. Christ Thompson is more of a third down back so if Jones were to go down, Marshall certainly could be in line for more work. Marshall was highly recruited out of high school, but is no stranger to playing behind another back as he was behind Todd Gurley and Nick Chubb at Georgia.

Bottom Line
There seems to be some real potential there for Marshall, but probably not in typical fantasy leagues. It remains to be seen if he can show enough to be a guy who gets significant work should Jones ever be sidelined, so because of that he's probably not worth a roster spot unless your league is very deep.
