BAL WR Kamar Aiken - Week 14, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Seattle

Kamar Aiken was second on the team in targets last week with 11, but finished with only 48 yards on six receptions as the Ravens lost a close game to the Dolphins. Aiken has definitely become the Ravens go-to outside receiver in the passing game over the last couple of weeks, but he’s still not putting up consistent numbers.

This week, Aiken faces a Seattle team that has allowed only 11 touchdown passes all season, tied with the Broncos for the least in the league, and ranks fourth in the NFL in passing yards allowed to opposing offenses. Aiken could have WR3 potential since he’s bound to be targeted, but it’s more likely that the Baltimore passing game is something to stay away from this week.

BAL WR Kamar Aiken - Week 13, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Miami

Kamar Aiken hasn’t been great in the WR1 role in Baltimore, but he’s been a serviceable option, racking up targets and ending with modest production in most weeks. Last week against the Browns, he managed to catch six of the team high ten targets sent his way, and he finished with 80 yards and a touchdown.

This week, Aiken faces a vulnerable Dolphins pass defense that allows 7.9 yards per pass attempt to opposing quarterbacks, but will likely be up against pro bowl caliber cornerback Brent Grimes in the secondary. Aiken’s upside is limited, making him a risky option as anything more than a WR3 option in most leagues.

BAL WR Kamar Aiken - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Cleveland

Kamar Aiken had five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown last week against the Rams. The Ravens got a much needed win, but they also lost their starting running back and starting quarterback. The loss of Joe Flacco may hurt the Ravens pass catchers, as they will now be counting on a 34-year-old Matt Schaub who hasn’t started a game for the Ravens before.

Aiken has a nice matchup against the Browns pass defense, but he was a risky option even with Flacco under center. Fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach with Aiken until we see exactly how well Schaub plays and which receivers he seems to prefer in the offense.

BAL WR Kamar Aiken - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. St. Louis

Kamar Aiken had seven catches for 73 yards last week in a loss against the Jaguars, and as expected, he led the team in targets, trying to fill the spot vacated by the injured Steve Smith Sr. Aiken was targeted 14 times last week, and expect the Ravens to continue to give him opportunities to take the next step in his development.

This week might not be the best week to hope for Aiken to reach the status of consistent NFL starter however, as he faces a Rams defense that has only allowed eight touchdown passes all season, tied for best in the league. Aiken will get looks and he has value as a low end WR2 or WR3 in most leagues, but fantasy owners should probably be looking elsewhere if possible in this matchup.

BAL WR Kamar Aiken - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Jacksonville

Kamar Aiken caught all six of the passes thrown his way against the Chargers in Week 8, but ended up with just 62 yards on the day. Aiken’s role stands to increase tremendously moving forward following the season-ending injury to Steve Smith Sr., and fantasy owners should consider him a nice roster add for depth purposes.

This week, Aiken has a little extra upside going up against the Jaguars 22nd ranked pass defense. They rank in the bottom half of the league in every significant pass defense category and Aiken will look to exploit the matchup. His inconsistency this season makes him a risky option, but in deep leagues, he has nice WR3 value as a sleeper with upside.

BAL WR Kamar Aiken - Week 8, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. San Diego
Kamar Aiken has taken a back seat with Steve Smith Sr. and Crockett Gilmore back and healthy. The Ravens were hoping he’d be able to step up, but as the WR2 on a team that has not been particularly effective on offense, Aiken is struggling to contribute. He had just one catch for six yards against the Cardinals on Monday night and it’s hard to imagine him doing much more this week, even in a nice matchup against the Chargers.

BAL WR Kamar Aiken - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Arizona

Kamar Aiken was targeted eight times last week and he had a touchdown, but he only ended up with three catches and 22 yards on the day. With Steve Smith Sr. back in the starting lineup, Aiken had a harder time making an impact and his status as a potential WR2 diminished.

This week, don’t expect much more from Aiken against a tough, playmaking Cardinals secondary. The Ravens will likely continue to lean on Justin Forsett and Smith Sr., making all other players in the Baltimore offense risky at best. Aiken is still worth owning in most leagues, but he should be on your bench at this point.
