LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs Los Angeles Rams

Justin Herbert delivered a classic "better in real life than fantasy" performance in Week 16 in the Chargers' win over the Colts. Herbert completed 24 of his 31 pass attempts for 235 yards but didn't throw a touchdown pass. Indeed, he was picked off for the third time in two games while taking four sacks. Herbert has been sacked a career-high 37 times this season. He managed 5.5 fantasy points, "good" for QB30 for the week.

Herbert has a good chance to return to fantasy relevance in Week 17 against a beat-up Los Angeles Rams side. The Rams, who will be without future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald, rank 12th in aFPA to quarterbacks this season, with 19 passing touchdowns allowed against 12 interceptions. We're projecting Herbert to put up top-12 numbers this week.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Indianapolis Colts

It was a weird outing for Justin Herbert in Week 15 against the Titans. He passed for 313 yards, his third straight 300-yard performance, and went over 4,000 yards for the season for the third time. But he failed to throw a touchdown for the first time since Week 6, and he also tossed two interceptions, his first picks since Week 11. Herbert managed just 8.7 fantasy points, a mark exceeded by 25 other quarterbacks last week.

Herbert should be able to combine real-life and fantasy production in Week 16 against the Colts. The Colts rank 24th in aFPA to quarterbacks in 2022, If Herbert can't live up to a high-end QB1 projection this week, then you worry when he ever will.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Tennessee Titans

Justin Herbert had a good game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 14, without putting up incredible fantasy numbers. Herbert amassed 300 passing yards for the second straight game, his first such streak of the season, and finished with 367 yards and a touchdown. Herbert has also gone three games without an interception, but he did take another four sacks against the Dolphins. Herbert has absorbed 30 sacks this season, two away from a career-high with four games left. Herbert scored 19.5 fantasy points last week and finished as the QB10.

Herbert should be in line for another good day against the Titans this week. The Titans rank 29th in aFPA to quarterbacks and are coming off a week in which Trevor Lawrence did pretty much what he wanted against them. Herbert should be viewed as a high-end QB1 this week.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs Miami Dolphins

The difference between fantasy and reality was never more apparent than in Justin Herbert's Week 13 game against the Raiders. Herbert was able to post 18.1 fantasy points, finishing as the QB7. And while he did throw for a season-high 335 yards, it took him 47 passes to get there. Herbert was sacked five times, giving him a total of 16 in his last four games. He's taking a pounding, quite frankly.

Herbert should, in theory, be able to put up decent numbers in Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have allowed the 11th most passing yards to quarterbacks this season, and rank 24th in aFPA to the position. But Herbert's protection, his lack of explosive pass catchers and his lack of a complementary ground game are starting to show on him. Still, Herbert should be viewed as a mid-tier QB1 this week.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Las Vegas Raiders

That was more like it from Justin Herbert in Week 12 against the Cardinals. Herbert threw 47 times, completing 35 of the attempt for 274 yards and three touchdowns. It was his first three-touchdown outing since Week 2, and his first game without an interception since Week 5. Herbert managed an impressive 28.8 fantasy points, good for QB3 last week.

There seems to be little to stop Herbert from building on this form in Week 13. The Las Vegas Raiders rank 31st in aFPA to quarterbacks, allowing almost 265 passing yards and 1.7 touchdowns per game. Herbert should be among the leading quarterback point scorers again this week.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Arizona Cardinals

Justin Herbert had one of his strongest statistical games of the 2022 season against the Chiefs in Week 11. Herbert posted a season-high 76.7 completion rate, with 23 of his 30 passes going for 280 yards and two touchdowns. Herbert did throw an interception for the fifth game in a row, and also absorbed a season-high five sacks. Herbert amassed 19.2 fantasy points and finished as the QB11 in Week 11.

Herbert has a pretty good matchup in store in Week 12 as the Chargers take on the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals rank 26th in aFPA to quarterbacks this season. Herbert projects to be a mid-tier QB1 this week.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs Kansas City Chiefs

Week 10 saw another dispiriting performance from Justin Herbert. He completed 21 of his 35 pass attempts, but could only amass a paltry 196 yards. He tossed one touchdown and one interception, his fourth straight game with a pick. It was also the fourth game in a row in which Herbert averaged less than six yards per attempt. Herbert managed 12 fantasy points, finishing as the QB24 in Week 10. He's the current QB14 in points per game in 2022.

Herbert will look to finally get right against the Chiefs in Week 11, the team he dropped one of his two 300-yard outings this season on back in Week 2. That game was also the last time Herbert managed three touchdown passes in a game. The Chiefs rank 28th in aFPA to quarterbacks this season, so this time it counts for Herbert. We have him ranked as a low-end QB1 this week.
